What a wonderful story! Franco Harris did what little he could to brighten the day and give comfort and hospitality to one of our brave men. A day I'm sure neither of them will ever forget. God's Blessings to both of them. Thanks so much for sharing this.

This won't contribute much to the conversation, but I saw this and had to share my own experience. I used to do a lot of charity work with Pittsburgh-area organizations when I still lived in the area. On a few occasions, I had the great privilege of meeting Mr. Harris, and I can't disagree with a single person here - he's truly a class act, and it isn't just for show.

I love hearing these stories, but I'll admit, I'm a partisan, and they're all the sweeter when the involve Stillers or individuals with Pittsburgh connections. Pro athletes play a lot bigger role in our society than most of them realize, and it's great to hear that some of them are willing to not only shoulder, but embrace that responsibility.

That said, the best of luck to the soldier involved, and all of his peers. If nothing else, tonight's State of the Union only reaffirmed that whatever the policies are, and whether you agree or disagree with them, at the end of the day, it's their courage that is the real story.

Franco is with a doubt one of my favorite Steelers of All-Time. I'd say probably 2nd behind Lambert. I think I've posted this pic before.....

I probably should of added that it's my son Bryce with Franco...I'm planning on getting it autographed at some point. I hope my son will understand the honor it was.

Franco Harris is an amazing man. I had the pleasure of working with him to raise funds for Democratic candidates in the 90's and he is a true gentleman, as well as very personable with a great sense of humor! What a great story - thank you for sharing it with all of us!

P.S. Lambert58 - Bryce is adorable!
