Default Dungy Probably Not Retiring - A Distraction For Next Year?

Tony Dungy's first Super Bowl celebration gave him a few moments to remember why he still enjoys coaching football.

Looks like the retirement plans can wait.

After getting drenched in the rain, soaked again in Gatorade, and enjoying a sleepless, festive night, the 51-year-old Dungy sounded as if he's ready to do it all again next season.

"Every year, for probably the last three or four years, I've evaluated where I am at the end of the season," he said Monday morning. "I still have a lot of passion and enthusiasm for the game, and after a night like last night, how could you not love it? So I'm not burned out, I'm not tired at all. I'm very fired up and looking forward to coming back. But I'll evaluate it and see where we'll go."

So now the Colts can deal with the rumors next season of a coach who comes back to repeat but who is allegedly considering retirement.

With Dungy it probably will be retirement rather than a time out prior to landing a new contract somewhere, but regardless of the reason the retirement rumors will be an ongoing distraction unless Dungy signs a new contract. Hopefully Dungy will handle the issue better than Cowher did during the season.

I think that dungy would handle it better then cowher. I think if dungy does decide to come back this year he will say how long he will be back.

Honestly I think he will be back. As for if he is going to say or not, well, only he can be the judge of that. As long as there isn't another media stampede like there was when Cowher retired, and the wait to find out pretty much killed everyone.
