HTG...

I am so sorry I haven't had a chance to see this until now.

May the Lord shine his grace and mercy upon you and Ken.

"Lord, may your hand come upon Ken with mighty and wonderful grace.
May you place your wisdom in the minds of the doctors,
your steadfastness in their ability to endure through the surgery,
and your peace, thier ability to operate with clear minds and steady hands.

Father, we know that all things work to Your glory for those who love you and are called according to Your purpose. We pray now that he is one of Yours, and that you receive the glory through this dire situation.

If it be your will, we ask that you reach into Ken now and miraclously remove the clot, the disease, and the scar tissue. If it be your will, we ask that you heal Ken completely.

We lift Ken to you that you will be a comfort and a shepherd to him at this time.

But beyond all else, because we know that one day we are all appointed to stand before you, that you heal his spirit and soul. Prepare him for the inevitable day, whether now or future.

We also ask you Lord to be with HTG. We ask you to give her the strength to walk with her ex-husband through this tramatic time. Be her crutch when she needs it, please be her rest when she seeks it, we beg of you to be her comfort when she desires it. And be her guide, regardless of all else.

Yet... as in all things, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven. Amen

Thank you to everyone for the well wishes and prayers and especially to Preacher - that was an absolutely beautiful prayer and it brought tears to my eyes - THANK YOU!!!

Yesterday afternoon, the surgeon implanted an IVC device into Ken's femoral artery, which is basically an "umbrella" that opens and acts like a filter to catch any remaining or new clots that may be lurking so that they can't reach the heart. He also implanted a mini defibrillator into Ken's chest so that if his heart goes off rhythm or if his heart rate goes over a certain pre-set rate, the device will zap the heart back into a normal pattern. These procedures were done to give Ken a better chance at survival until he can go forward with the aortic valve replacement and 2 bypasses that he desperately needs. The risks for the surgery itself haven't been lessened by these procedures, but at least he now has a good chance at making it through until the surgery can be performed in 3-4 weeks when the pulmonary embolism has totally dissolved. His heart is still quite weak, but they had to do something quickly to give him that extra time while awaiting surgery. He may be released tomorrow or Monday, depending on how well he feels. He will not be able to work or do much of anything and I know that will make him crazy, but I'm going to make sure he follows doctors' orders to the letter or I'll kick him in the hiney.

Please keep those prayers coming - they are very much appreciated and I believe are really helping! Thank you all again.

Thank you all for your continued prayers - Ken is going to need them now more than ever.

He was discharged on Saturday late afternoon. When I went in to pick him up, he asked me to sit down and I knew something was horribly wrong from the look on his face. Apparently, his neurologist had run some tests earlier in the week, including a CT of his brain and a dopplers of all of the arteries leading up to the brain. They found that the two main arteries leading from the neck up to the brain are almost completely occluded. This now presents another major problem, as not only does he need that aortic valve replaced almost yesterday, if they don't go in and unclog those arteries (which is yet another very risky surgery due to the severity of the occlusions) he could have a massive stroke. Ken very rarely ever breaks down, but he did as he was telling me of this new issue. The neurologist said that he is going to get together with Ken's other 8 specialists and decide what the best course of action is here. Personally, I feel he should have remained in the hsopital so that he could be monitored, but his insurer insisted he be discharged - typical of those jagoffs.

Uggghhhh! How frustrating! Thank God he has you. I know you're doing a great job caring for him as well as being the advocate he needs. Continued prayers for wisdom for those docs to get a coordinated plan together and of course still for the entire situation. Let me know if you need me. Cyber hugs coming your way.
