Default Steelers Sign QB

Steelers sign quarterback
Friday, February 09, 2007

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed second-year quarterback Bryan Randall to its active roster, the team announced today.

Randall (6-0, 228), who attended Virginia Tech, was in the Atlanta Falcons training camp the past two seasons before being released both years. He then spent time on the Falcons practice squad in 2005 and Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad in 2006.

I hope we can find better ex Bucs than this. Tomlin tell me this wasn't your move. ;)

The scrub-midget QB won't make the final roster............

A warm arm to give St. Pierre a run. No biggy.

I live in virginia and I remember watchin this kid at tech and he wasnt anything special. I expect him to be cut they just want to give st pierre some initiative to get better so we dont have to put hines or somebody back there if batch breaks his hand again while scoring a td haha.

Y'know, this may sound like fluff, but I've had the opportunity to meet Brian St. Pierre on a few occasions. The guy may not be a clear league stand-out, but he really does embody the Pittsburgh ethic...he's always presented himself as a very down-to-earth, hard working individual that just wants to make a contribution.

I was a bit disappointed when I saw his on-again, off-again status the last few years...and I CERTAINLY don't want to see him back with the Ravens or another divisional rival. I'd really like to see what he can do one day in a legitimate game situation...

The guy really does seem like a team player in the traditional Stillers mold. He's aware that he's not going to be "the guy," but it seems like he really does just want to be part of something great...more power to him for that. Hope to see him around for many years to come...he's earned our loyalty...

Just my, largely worthless, thoughts...

He is nothing more than a PS player. He might compete for 3rd string QB, but that's about it. We gotta have 4 QB's at the start of practice. This guy is it. End of story.

I am a little confused by this pickup...Bryan Randall only graded out as a practice squader when he came out in 2005...Some people thought he might be able to change positions..but a 4.75 40 time generally will keep you out of a WR corp!!!
Not sure what tangibles our new coaches see in this kid that everyone esle has missed. We can get a practice squader thats not 6'0..cant we?

Are you sure it was Brian St. Pierre you met, and not that guy who was busted for impersonating him and big Ben a couple years back? :) Just kidding..I sometimes just can't resist being a smarta$$!

I could care less about a signing in feb. We can start evaluating tomlins ability to find players when the real free agency begins next month.
