norv turner has the SD connection and has done wonders developing aikman and alex smith. he would probably be good with rivers. mike singletary is just a lb coach so he could easilly be promoted to d-coord and give the chargers the satisfaction of raiding the staff of the team that demolished them in their only sb appearance...

boLT fan - Interested to hear your take on why this finally went off the tracks yesterday and who gets the HC job now.

There was a 'danger' that with the losses to the coaching staff that Schotty was going to go back to a more 'hands on' approach - which must have had the Charger faithful breaking out in cold sweats.

I guess that may have played a part in his dismissal - the refusal to continue taking a back seat when the action heated up.

Some coaches are great talent evaluators, but not so hot in the heat of the moment under intense pressure.

He'd probably make a good VP of player personnel.

As I mentioned before, the Chargers will probably have to find a coach who runs not just a 3-4 D, but the same type that San Diego ran last year.

I can't imagine that the players are going to remain silent on this issue for to much longer - I expect someone like Drayton Florence to let us know what he thinks sometime soon.

The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

Somehow I doubt being in this position in mid-February was what AJ had in mind.
My point wasn't stated clearly, so I deserve your abuse - what I was trying to say is - AJ has a replacement or replacements in mind and this team has enough talent that I don't think it's a big deal that it happened now - thus the reference to Barry Switzer coaching the Cowboys to illustrate even a complete tool of a coach will do well with the talent in SD....ok so this point might not be well stated either...I'm a little off these days

Yep, this firing showed that Aj Smith had no confidence in Marty running the show himself. It's a great day today.

Oh, no abuse intended - I was throwing my rock at AJ & Spanos.

Sorry if you thought I was dissing you.

early indications are that rex ryan is the front runner. That hire would make sense considering ryan runs the 3-4. I wouldnt be surprised if pete caroll is a little intersted in this job. Espically since there could be trouble in usc future with reggie bush.

Chargers are Stupid
Marty was the right man for that job, and now the Chargers may go down hill with all their changes that are gonna happen now. All their assistant coaches will have to be replaced and
now their Head Coach.. Not Good~~~

How are the Chargers stupid? By firing a coach that can win anything after his assistants were fired? If we would have kept him, he would've been fired after this year anyway and then we would have new assistants. That would be 3 differen't coaching staffs in 3 years. Marty will never win anything.

Ya, the Chargers are stupid.
