Default Jacoby Jones- 6'4" WR Lane College

210 lbs and ran a 4.4 at the combine. says hes a 4.3 guy on a fast track. he just gave an excellent interview on sirius. he is very hungry and uses m. coulston as inspiration. he dont care what round hes drafted in, he just wants to do whatever it takes to make a 53 man roster. did hurdles in track, played basketball and rb as a youth. didnt go to a big name college cause he was only 5'7" and 160 lbs coming out of HS!!! he says he has been able to maintain his speed cause he still runs and plays like hes small. was also a return specialist in college. he sounds very smart and confident he can pick up any playbook. loves to read coverages. hes very humble too. he said one part of his game he needs to work on is his concentration especially on the low passes where he has to bend at the waist and reach down, which is a technique thing that can easilly be ironed out.

I'm intrigued! Sounds like the type of guy Tomlin and the FO might be in the market for.

I like this guy also Tony...I mentioned him in the "Big Recievers" thread

Seems like a classy steelers hard nose type of player. I dont know if we need at WRs right now though truthfully. we have other needs to fill but if he is up there in the 6th-7th round why not take a shot.

jacoby was just worked out with the bengals. he also has scheduled visits with the eagles, patriots, titans, and vikings. thats it. remember it was the vikings and eagles who had hank baskett on their radar last season. he definitely seems to have the heart, determination, and work ethic of hines ward.

p. kirwan and r. cross again asked him what his expectations were for the draft. he said "of course id like to go in the 1st round, but im from a small school, man. i just wanna get picked up by a team, even as an undrafted free agent. i just wanna play football"

wow. hes not even worried about a contract, or more money. his main thought is playing. they asked him where hes best. he said he's played x, y, and z. spots but he'll line up in the backfield if thats what they want him to do. he said hes most comfortable on the outside but playing the middle in the slot is "fun".

this dude has got steeler written all over him. tomlin was a wr at a small college. hmmm i guess how smart he is and how quick he can learn the playbook will determine his level of success in the league. kirwan and cross love this guy and both feel hes got it and repeatedly tell him hes gonna make it.

I think alot of teams are backing off of him right now because he has very tiny hands...(7 1/2 inches!!!)...but he has been productive in the past..and I dont believe he drops alot of balls.

ahhh. nice nugget! i see you been doing your research. that would help explain the problems with the low thrown balls. (he did say in his workout yesterday with the bengals he caught all 60 balls thrown his way, but then again, i wasnt there to witness it)

off topic, but have you seen a lifesize photo of michael jordans hands? (like in his huge coffee table book "rare air") holy shit, no wonder he could fly and have so much ball control. he could probably catch a football, 1 handed, between his thumb and forefinger.

Tony, anyone that runs a 4.4 should be noticed and probably increase their draft status. How far down do you think we can go and still get this guy. Yes we have a few other "needs" in the draft but do you think we have to wait til rounds 6-7 to pick up a WR like this if they are a steal?
