College Basketball is on the way. Penn State's 2006-2007 Pre-Season Prediction Rose 7 Spots in the Big Ten. They're predicted 4th.
For Last Nights Pre-Season Game http://www.gopsusports.com/pressrele...m?anncid=11103 11.1.2006 Men's Basketball Downs Edinboro 71-53 In First Exhibition Of Season Pre-season All-Big Ten pick Geary Claxton suffers broken hand University Park, Pa.; November 1, 2006 - Penn State got a win in its first action of the season, but also suffered a setback while downing Edinboro 71-53 in exhibition action Wednesday in the Bryce Jordan Center in front of 5,961 fans. While fourth year coach Ed DeChellis got a good look at many of his young players, pre-season Big Ten All-Conference selection Geary Claxton (West Haven, Conn.) logged just nine minutes before injuring his right hand while finishing an offensive put-back for two of his five points. X-rays later revealed a broken bone in the junior forward's hand. "He broke a bone (below) his pinkie finger," DeChellis said. "He'll be out for a few weeks, then it will be week to week. He'll be out at least two. When asked if this posed a major hiccup in his team's early season development DeChellis responded, "I would think this is a major hiccup when you have a pre-season all-conference player out for the next two weeks. I think it's a little bit of a situation." Sophomore Jamelle Cornley (Columbus, Ohio), the 2006 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, led Penn State with 10 points in 18 minutes showing nice touch on his mid-range jumper while going five-of-11 from the floor. Junior Mike Walker (Lewisberry, Pa.) added nine points, four rebounds and four assists and sophomore Danny Morrissey (Pepper Pike, Ohio) chipped in eight points and two assists. Freshman David "D.J." Jackson (Farrell, Pa.) led Penn State with eight boards and added four points and sophomore Milos Bogetic (Podgorica, Serbia and Montenegro) had seven rebounds and six points. Fifteen players saw action for Penn State, 11 playing 10 minutes or more, and 12 scored, including three-pointers from five different players. Junior Brandon Hassell (Farmersville, Ohio), the only Lion not to see action, sat out the game with a bulging disc in his lower back. He is day to day and is expected to return to action possibly by Monday's exhibition game with Shippensburg. "I thought our guards were okay," DeChellis said. "The young kids played with a little energy and fire. Having Danny back was good. He made a couple of shots in this type of atmosphere. "I think they knocked the cobwebs off. We have to go back upstairs and figure out who is going to move into that spot (left by an injured Claxton). We can play three guards or go with little D.J., but he hasn't done that much, so far. It's hard for a freshman. Now, he has to learn something completely different." Edinboro senior Daren Tielsch, who began his career at Penn State in 2001-02, led the Scots with 15 points and eight rebounds, while 6-9 forward Ryan McLemore logged eight points and 10 rebounds. Penn State, which posted a 71-58 victory over Edinboro in an exhibition last season, took a 37-21 lead into the half on the NCAA Division II Scots who have won the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship the last two years. The Nittany Lions got much of their offense from behind the arc early hitting four threes. Penn State went on a 13-2 run midway through the first 20 minutes. Morrissey nailed his first shot attempt since sitting out last season with a patella tendon tear, draining a three from the left wing. Walker followed with one of his own for a 21-6 Penn State lead. After an Edinboro surge cut the lead to 12 at 42-30 with 14:17 to play in the second half, Penn State outscored the Scots 26-8 over the next 10 minutes to extend to a 30-point lead, 68-38 with 4:16 to play. A pair of buckets by 6-10 sophomore Joonas Suotamo (Espoo, Finland) got the run started. Another pair of back-to-back three-pointers by Morrissey and Walker and two threes from red-shirt freshman Maxwell Dubois (Hollywood, Fla.) kicked it into high gear. It looked like the first outing for both teams shooting as Penn State shot 37 percent (25-67) and Edinboro managed just 31 percent (19-61) from the floor. But, the Nittany Lions took care of the ball chalking up 18 assists against just nine turnovers while picking up seven steals and causing 14 turnovers for the Scots. Penn State also won the battle of the boards 46-44, despite not having Claxton, the Big Ten's top returning rebounder, for most of the game. Penn State returns to action Monday, Nov. 6 with an exhibition game vs. Shippensburg. That game is set for a 7:30 p.m. tip in the Bryce Jordan Center and can be heard live via webcast on GoPSUsports.com.

Maybe part of the problem is I've never been into PSU basketball. I basically stop paying attention to Penn State after football season and this year I'm done with football today.

they should just fold up the baeketball progam, and use the money from that to start a midget tossing team to compete in the ncaa div 12, thats how good their team is.
