Washington QB Stanbeck is 6'3 216lbs and when his foot was healthy ran a 4.45 forty....he has screws in his foot now..but is he worth a look as a big reciever/3rd QB?
He is supposed to have great character and work ethic...and in the interview I read he said that he would like to play QB but is willing to play wherever he is needed. He specifically mentioned a Randle El type of role. With the bad foot and the potential value..I find Stanback pretty interesting |

i think a slash player has always been important to the steelers (kordell helped in our 95 season and el helped in 05) i still think if we wouldve traded most of our 2nd day picks last year for michael robinson he would still make the team this year. interesting indeed. |

Exactly....match our thinking with picking up draft picks with getting the extra value of these type of players and we may not have the 2nd day like we did last year!!!

i hope not. colbert and cowher seemed to sleepwalk through day 2 last year. coming off a sb its obvious the 53 man roster was pretty much already set but i sure wish we woulda used some of those picks to manuver up for one player or added picks in the future.

I like the idea of that type of player, but I wonder if this is the guy, at the cost of a pick; not a regular receiver, and that screw in the foot might slow him down. I'd take a shot at him as a free agent.
I do love the way all these guys bloom with potential, though, seriously. This is one of the coolest time of the season, when every player is the missing piece. Tom |

I would rather spend our 5-7 round picks on high ceiling possibilities like Stanback whose limitations are based on an injury that should heal...and not from a lack of talent like our picks last year....I say spend a 5th and 6th round pick on the punter Daniel Sepulveda and Stanback and a 7th round pick on claiming the rights to Jeff Samardzija....

path to the draft on nfl network just highlighted him as a 2nd day prospect (pointing out the upside you established) and compared him to a bigger seneca wallace.
im pretty pissed at st. pierre for selling our playbook to the ravens and would just as soon see him cut (saves about $400,000 over a late round rookie). although st pierre is smart and im sure would sell new trade secrets to the bengals or browns but may be worth it.

Hey a black quaterback, let's make him change positions.
If we drafted him, we'd need him at quaterback where we have an old man and a future insurance salesman backing up our "franchise" quaterback. |

...also we are all aware that he DID play some WR in college and therefore his athletic ability transfers more easily to WR in the Pros than it does to QB. He has averaged 7 TD's and 3 interceptions per year over his college career, completing 51.4 % of his passes ....I dont see him as a replacement for Charlie Batch anytime soon. |
