Default 49ers | Gore receives new contract

49ers | Gore receives new contract
Tue, 27 Mar 2007 19:23:39 -0700
Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore has agreed to terms on a new five-year contract with the team. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

After the good season he had. I cannot wait to see this numbers... Wonder if they backload his contract to hell.

i dont think they did. they were almost 40 million under the cap and still gotta save enough money to potentially sign polamalu next season.

i dont think gore was going into the final year of his contract (i think he had 2 years left). either way, they did the smart and economical thing by extending him longterm now. i wish the steelers couldve/wouldve done the same with troy last season.

ehh, i think im on to something here. i forget the exact numbers for tully banta cain, but it is relatvely cheap (i think 3 mil/yr). i wont put my life or even house on it but i'd say theyre still easilly 10 mil under the cap. thats more than enough to sign troy if the steelers are unwilling to ante up and pay the best safety in the game like hes the best safety in the game.

im POSITIVE the 9ers would love nothing more than to try and recapture the days of USC's ronnie lott. troy is fond of the west coast and would have no problem continuing the legacy of a legend (he already played with that pressure in college).

A league source tells us that the San Francisco 49ers have signed running back Frank Gore to a long-term extension.

Per the deal, the third and final year of his rookie contract (which would have paid him $435,000) has been torn up and replaced with a five-year, $28.012 million contract.

The contract will pay a signing bonus of $6.5 million and a 2007 base salary of $435,000, which is fully guaranteed. In 2008, Gore is due to receive a fully-guaranteed option bonus of $4.165 million and a guaranteed salary of $2.562 million.

In 2009, Gore is scheduled to receive a base salary of $2.5 million and a prorated per-game roster bonus with a total maximum value of $1.75 million. In 2010, the base salary increases to $2.85 million, with a prorated per-game roster bonus worth up to $1.85 million. In 2011, the salary increases to $2.9 million with a per-game active roster bonus of up to $2.0 million.

There's also a yearly workout bonus of $100,000.

Gore was a third-round draft choice in 2005, and he has started for only one season. And he's has two torn ACLs while in college

The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

Damnit,we better resign Polamalu.I'd rather lose Faneca to be able to resign Troy.
