OSU Buckeyes:

Will again have a dominant defense, one of the best in the Country. Great LB play, and Ted Ginn will be playing at CB (His natural position).

Ted Ginn Jr. (Deserves his own paragraph). A legit Heisman candidate, touched the ball 59 times last year and scored 8. He'll be playing at WR across from Santonio Holmes, and if they aren't the fastest WR tandem in the Country, I'd like to know who is. He'll also be returning punts, playing DB, and playing a little RB and QB just to mix things up. Maybe the most dangerous player in College football.

Solid QB play. Either Zwick lives up to his potential in the game against Miami(OH) while Smith serves his suspension, or he doesn't. It's a win/win either way, as Smith is coming off probably the greatest QB performance EVER for a Buckeye against the Wolverines.

Improved running game. Antonio Pittman gained 15 lbs of muscle in the offseason without losing a step. The OL will be solid, and OSU recruited a young stud RB to push Pittman. As good as they've been since Clarrett.

Tressel...say what you will about his style, but he knows how to win, particularly in big games. 33-6 against BCS teams, 3-1 in bowl games (including the National Championship), 3-1 against Michigan, and 6-1 vs top 10 teams. He'll need to be on his game when the Bucks host Texas in the 2nd week of the season, though...while most top teams are tuning up against Southern Central North Dakato State, these 2 programs have the balls to go at it early in a game that could very well determine their respective seasons in mid-September instead of late November.

Finally, intangibles. The dark cloud of the Clarrett scandal has finally blown away...sure, it left the university with a PR black eye, but it's finally over. If OSU can overcome the Longhorns hurdle early, they are looking good despite tough road games against Wisconsin, a vastly improved PSU and Michigan.

The thing is, if you bet, put your money down on OSU tomorrow. Texas has Brown who loses EVERY big game, and OSU has Tressel who wins every big game.

Doesn't it get old for Longhorn fans? EVERY year they are projected to be the best, and every year they play a cushy early schedule, play a couple good teams through weeks 4-5 then fall apart...I commend the Longhorns for manning up and playing a meaningful game early this year...however, it's a mistake for them. They will not be able to move the ball, against a Dominant OSU defense, and that will crush the ego early of a very good team...
All they care about is beating overrated Oklahoma, which they will do for the first time in 5 years.Unfortunatly,National Championship aspirations will be crushed by the Buckeyes in a Week 2 loss that probally puts them out of the NC race (however, they go to a BCS Bowl and win).

On a side note, I heard the "Red River Shootout" has to be renamed because the absurdly politically correct NCAA thinks the name has "violent connotations"...

The NCAA can suck a dick. They need to shut up and let traditions carry on.Next thing you know they won't let Ohio State and Michigan play each other. And if that were to ever happen...it would be the ONLY thing fans/players/students/personel from/of the two schools will EVER agree on.

24-14 Final

I left to get online at the begining of the 4th quarter. Were the 14 points scored against our backup defensive players?

Texas better watch out next week...because the Buckeyes are looking to kill them.

Yeah we had back-ups in, in the 4th. Texas isn't going to be easy they won today 60-3. But Zwick looked pretty damn good today.

ya'll better be prepared for vince young, he can throw now, and our back field is deep, i sure hope ya'll can stop the run cause we had four guys with over 60 yards rushing(true freshman jamal charles had 136 on 14 carries, selvin young had 66 yards on 8 carries, r. taylor had 66 yards on 5 carries, and h. melton had 65 on 5 carries) and all our backs are faster then hell except melton he's a fat dude that runs over ppl, and taylor is a wr/rb.

vince young had 47 rushing yards, 172 passing yards 3 passing touchdowns and one rushing so 4 all together, 13 of 17 passing one pick. but they took him out of the game early so he could've had better stats

we could've had more then 60 points (should've had 63 atleast, kicker was retarded and missed 3 extra points) but we just started running the clock out with some fat running back that our bias local annoncers kept reffering to him as a jerome bettis.

34-14, and Miami scored all 14 points in garbage time against 2nd and 3rd stringers. Miami is a pretty good football team, too, and the Bucks just absolutely manhandled them in every phase of the game.

Zwick played well, but I didn't see anything from him that Smith can't do better.

As for Texas, they are gonna have their hands full. The defense for OSU is going to be awesome this year, the LB corps may be the best EVER for the Buckeyes, and the offense looks to be nearly unstoppable. With all those offensive weapons, a new spread offense, PLUS the ability of Troy Smith to make this happen running, I would not want to have to gameplane against the Buckeyes this year.

By the way, did someone steal Jim Tressel and replace him with an alien replacement or something? I've never seen OSU run so may spread formations, multiple receiver sets, single back sets, etc, etc...3 yards and a cloud of dust is a thing of the past at OSU it appears (and I just know Woody Hayes rolled over in his grave yesterday).
