thanks for the heads up. I have already written it into my calendar, but knowing me, I WILL need any reminder possible. I have also informed my girlfriend she is not to call me during the hour of 8 to 9 PM that day. of course, that means she will.

Smizik has a blurb on the progarm

At 8 p.m. Monday, it will air "The Story of the 2005 Steelers." Tom Selleck narrates and it's a feel-good look at the Super Bowl season seen mainly through the eyes of Bill Cowher, Jerome Bettis and Joey Porter.

The show is filled with the kind of inside stuff only NFL Films, with access no one else has, can provide.

Early in the show, Cowher is talking to Bettis on the sideline.

Cowher says: "We're going to keep your [bleep] here for a while."

Bettis says: "I want to retire here, coach."

Cowher replies: "This is your city."

An unremarkable exchange, except for this: It took place in 1996, Bettis' first season with the Steelers and long before he became a Pittsburgh icon.

All the great moments are there, including the unforgettable tribute to Bettis when his teammates allowed him to run on the field by himself to the adulation of the Super Bowl crowd.

There's a bittersweet ending as the screen tells us Bettis, Cowher and Porter are all gone from the Steelers.

i cant think of 3 others i would rather hear tell the story. have you seen the promo commercial for this?

cowher is describing the moment we have all seen on the championship dvd, on the sidelines immediately after the game where his daughter is heard saying "were finally world champs dad!". as cowher is telling this his lip is quiverring like ive never seen it before and i think were gonna get to see him drop a few tears. definitely a powerful moment to see such a strong coach and leader get so emotional to this day.

Great show. Porter was great as one of the narrators. But this one had me laughing.

Porter on Palmers knee injury.

"...anyone that knew Kimo knows that wasn't on purpose. He was the first guy trying to help him...and at the same time we're trying to make sure this guy is alright, their coach is points his finger at Kimo and said he did it on purpose. You know I was just about to have a little sympathy for you but if your going to take it there I don't care if he's hurt or not ....so!....and!....let's go Palmer is done and I hope you don't think that Kitna is going to win this game for you.

I was the bad guy once again I laughed at their sorrows."

...porter ended it with an evil chuckle.

Another fine production, but given what has happened since I would have enjoyed tonight's program a lot more if it had run last year this time. The ending where Bettis, Porter, and Cowher are all noted to be gone summed up in about 20 seconds of video how quickly it all ended after SB XL.

If you have a chance to watch the America's Game on the '75 Steelers, keep in mind these 2 quotes at the start of that program:

Dwight White - " there are 2 types of Super Bowl teams that nobody remembers - first, those that lost and second, those that only won once," followed by the Bruce Willlis narration over footage of the first Steelers win at SB IX stating "for some teams a Super Bowl win is an ending."

Those quotes were set up to celebrate the 70s Steelers but they ironically apply to the other Steelers SB championship team as well.

Definitely a bittersweet show, which the '70s Steelers America's Game programs were not.
