Wards contract progress crawls..

Hines Ward wore an interesting outfit into the Steelers' locker room yesterday. His baseball cap shrieked "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." His T-shirt, in large letters, boasted: "Can't Sell Dope Forever."

"No," Ward was quick to answer, laughing, "I don't sell dope."

There was a message there, somewhere, and it has something to do with his stalled contract extension talks, but he preferred to let reporters and fans try to figure it out.

"Take it for what it's worth," Ward said.

With the Sept. 11 start of the regular season as their deadline, the Steelers and agent Eugene Parker have made little progress toward a contract extension for Ward, who enters the final year of a deal that will pay him a $1.67 million salary in 2005.

"Nothing happening," said Ward, who ended a 15-day contract holdout and has played in the past two exhibition games, albeit briefly.

I blame his agent. He also represents Simon and Cedric Benson

Well Benson is signed..Simon is a FA.. its wards turn damnit!!! Comon parker get this deal done!!

Now Benson's deal is done 3 games into preseason and he couldnt get a deal done with Simon for some reason

Yeah, Ive never had a problem w/ eugene parker till now..he's had a good relationship w/ the Steelers for a long time, now he thinks he's one of the Poston brothers..

I just wish this deal would get done. It looked so hopeful when Hines showed up to camp. He should kick Parker to the curb. This deal should have been done already.

Im sure I dont know everything that goes on behind the scenes, but how hard is it to close this deal...

Give me 20, I'll give you 15, give me 18, I'll give you 17, make it 17 1/2, DONE!!!!!

Call me old fashion. But they Tshirt has to go. It is a little class less for a role model like Hines Ward.

Wonder where the line in the sand is for Ward? When he say okay enough is enough I want to explore free agency??

who ever said hines or any athelete is a role model? but thats another topic. this thing is really starting to make sick. i whole heartly bashed hines when he did not show up for camp. even took a couple of cheap shots but the jokes on the fans and hines. i used to think the steelers were the classiest organization. not anymore, hines does his part gets back to camp and they give him a big plate of dodo by signing casey hamton. wow, hines really sounds like their Number 1 priority? wow that dodo plate really taste like shit, because i feel like its been fed to me too. get him signed or go public and admit the truth, the steeler organization is just giving this thing lip service.. .how many times do i have to check the daily headlines at work just hoping that i can read "Hines ketchup is green - Ward wraps up longterm contract"
