Default House bill 760...The Firearms Registration Act

This bill if enacted would require a $10 registration fee for each gun per year. It does not affect only new purchases after enactment. It would affect each gun you own.

I own 2 guns. Both used for target shooting. I would have pay $20 per year for the right to legally own them as I do now. My wife's uncle who has been shooting all his life and has an extensive collection, would probably not be able to afford to register his guns.

He is retired and lives on a fixed income. He used to do a lot of target shooting. He also used to hunt and shoot skeet and trap as well. His eyes aren't as good as they used to be but he still likes to go shoot when he can.

Any gun not registered would have to be turned over to the state. If you're caught with an unregistered gun you will be a criminal and all your guns will be taken away and you go to jail.

Here's a link to the bill. House bill 760

I wonder how long it would take for them to raise the registration fee? It could get out of hand very quickly.

If you are so inclined please write a letter to your state reps. You can also sign this online petition sponsored by a rep from Reading. http://gw_pahouseit_district128.psin...25711.76&gen=1

Think about this.... The only people this bill will punish are law abiding gun owning citizens. This will not deter criminals because they wouldn't register a gun anyway!

As long as I dont have to go hunting with the Vice President. I see no reason for any bill that would force more gun control.

What a bunch of B.S.

The only people this is going to affect are good law abiding people not the thugs who use them to kill people. Maybe they ought to work a little harder to take the guns away from the criminals, not hunters and target shooters.

If they would enforce the laws that are already on the books then everthing would be fine not make up new laws to cover the ones they never used

What gun owners are hoping is that the hunters of this state take up the cause too. I have never hunted. I did a lot of target shooting as a kid and just started back into it.

For a long time I felt that assault weapons should be banned. Then recently I sat down and thought about it. Any semi-automatic rifle does the same thing. One bullet fired with each trigger pull. It doesn't matter what kind of stock it has or what it looks like. The result is the same.

I still believe that no one needs to own a fully automatic rifle. But to ban the AK-47 because of how it looks is ridiculous.

Ya know what I found interesting this past week. I went to the range for several hours. Guys came and went with their rifles. Some had hunting rifle they were sighting in, others had their assault rifles, AK's and AR-15's, but several of them came over to ask me questions about the .22 target rifle I was using. I had the oddball rifle on the range. LOL!

You have to wonder 1) who in their right mind thinks that anyone who purchases a gun illegally cares about this bill...2) If this is a thinly-veiled attempt to find out how many guns are owned by the citizens in this country... for some future regulation.

This bill is in the PA State House. It's not a national bill. Some people wonder if it's even constitutional.

..sounds like a way to bypass consitutional rights...like Chicagos law that states.."You can own a gun in Chicago..but you cant posess a gun in Chicago"

All I know is if they tried to pass a law like that in Idaho there would be a lynching of someone. lol

Yeah I think the same thing. I have a 12 ga. that I use to duck hunt with and its a semi-auto, it only holds 3 shells but could fall under the assault weapon category in some peoples eyes.
