I have to disagree completely with you guys :) Firefox is very very UN-friendly in terms of scripting. I do web development and firefox just doesnt work with certain java scripts. Contrary to what people think, firefox has just as many holes in it as IE.

There are a few sites that FF isn't compatible with, so I keep IE around and fire it up every now and then...but for practical, everyday web browsing, FF just blows IE away...

Yeah I agree.. I have to keep IE around just for that purpose too..but I normally stick w/ www.avantbrowser.com when I need something more IE compatible, which isnt too often, or the new nutscrape 8.0 browser that lets you view sites using FF, IE, or nutscrape.
FF has a new beta version out now too. |

Yup, that was all I was pointing out that from a developer view point, its not 100% compatible like IE is. And SteelersFanInPhilly, you don't think FF has flaws and openings? LOL Right now, its a none fact they they have just as many flaws than all the other browsers.

FF has it's flaws that is for sure. However, I can never understand how a multi-billion dollar company. Can release such flawed software.

I totally agree with you, here. I work in IT at Ford HQ's datacenter and I used to work for a company that built custom servers with Windows, Linux and SCO Unix configurations...every OS has holes, patches, glitches, etc!!!!!! I hear all this Microsoft bashing from some people in my industry when 90% of the people who have problems don't update their computers with the latest patches or protect themselves with anti-virus & anti-spyware programs. Firefox AND Linux have just as many issues. The only reason they are considered "safer" then Windows products is that they aren't used by every single home PC owner. If I was a hacker or wanted to write spyware...why wouldn't I write it for the OS and browser that 95% of home users have? If everyone was using Linux in their homes, I guarantee there would be all kinds of issues cropping up as well. At least Microsoft puts out great products, any unbiased and knowledgeable IT pro will tell you that... That being said, I love Firefox. It is currently faster and less of a resource hog then IE. Plus, it doesn't use ActiveX controls, which is where most of the spyware comes from... Just my thoughts... Hammer. |
