Default Harrison's approach remains the same?

Anyone else read that story about James Harrison on steelers.com?

In one paragraph he says this..................."I'm not approaching it any different than I did last year," said Harrison. "I prepared last year as if there was a possibility that I could be a starter. Right now it looks like I will be the starter. My preparation is no different."

Later in the same article he says this........."It's a lot different now," said Harrison. "For me going in knowing I would be a starter is a lot better than five minutes before the game saying you are going in."

HAHAHA. the problem with mindless sports cliches is that if the interview lasts too long, you run out and have to start contrdicting yourself

Let's hope he shows up on the field with the same attitude.

I see Harrison as the starter this season, even if an olb is drafted

"My preparation is no different." That statement is crystal clear that he is preparing the same way he did last year, getting ready physically.

Then he was probably asked about the change in regards to being a starter. He clarified that answer when he said," I have to be in there and do it to learn. That's how I learn, by doing it."

So when he says,"........."It's a lot different now," said Harrison. "For me going in knowing I would be a starter is a lot better than five minutes before the game saying you are going in." we know he's talking about the reps that a starter gets with the first team.

Some reporters have a knack for informative writing that can be easily understood. Others can confuse the reader by not listing either the order in which their own questions were asked, or they think the article can use some creativity to add flair and interest. Personally I don't think it is a well written article, but the intent does come through.

Silverback will create havoc for opposing teams this season! I'm counting on it!

i don't think he contradicted himself. seems to me that he was referring to the upcoming season in the first paragraph and in the 2nd he was referring to 5 minutes before the game.

That's what I came away with after reading both quotes.

he just said it was better knowing youre gonna play all week as opposed to 5 minutes before the game. makes sense to me. and his approach stays the same regardless, which is why he always does well when called into duty with 5 minutes notice, and why he has earned this opportunity.

there are back ups who remain career back up cause they dont prepare like theyre gonna start every week.

james pretty much said its better being a starter than back up.

I think he was asked a different question when it seemed like he contradicted himself. From my view point, it seems like the way he's preparing is going well, and that he has a very good chance of beoming a starter.
