Default ESPN Offensive Positional Value

Espn has an excellent break down of the percentage of NFL starting players (for the 2006 season) and the round they were drafted in..I thought it was very telling as to what positions have better value in later rounds as opposed to what positions should be drafted higher.

Here is the Offensive Breakdown.

QB:
Round 1: 59%
Round 2: 6%
Round 3: 9%
Round 4: 0%
Round 5: 0%
Round 6: 9%
Round 7: 0%
Undrafted: 16%
You can find a Qb in the Later rounds but for Every Tom Brady and Tono Romo..there are a dozen Todd Husaks and a hundred Timmy Changs.

RB
Round 1: 47%
Round 2: 25%
Round 3: 16%
Round 4: 3%
Round 5: 0%
Round 6: 3%
Round 7: 0%
Undrafted: 6%
The Well dries up quickly after round 4; Dominic Rhodes and Willie Parker were the only undrafted starters in 2006.

FB
Round 1: 0%
Round 2: 10%
Round 3: 10%
Round 4: 20%
Round 5: 10%
Round 6: 7%
Round 7: 7%
Undrafted: 37%
FB is the only position in which more than 20% of starters were undrafted.

WR
Round 1: 38%
Round 2: 22%
Round 3: 14%
Round 4: 6%
Round 5: 2%
Round 6: 3%
Round 7: 6%
Undrafted: 9%
Very telling that virtually 3/4 of starting WR's are picked up on Day one.

TE
Round 1: 38%
Round 2: 18%
Round 3: 15%
Round 4: 6%
Round 5: 3%
Round 6: 3%
Round 7: 6%
Undrafted: 12%
If needed...get your TE early. No first round TE has been an out-and-out bust since Derek Brown of the Giants in 1992

OT
Round 1: 38%
Round 2: 23%
Round 3: 11%
Round 4: 6%
Round 5: 6%
Round 6: 3%
Round 7: 8%
Undrafted: 5%
Last Year 22 teams had at least one starting OT who was a first round pick..but only two started a pair of first rounders..Teams play High-Low with their Tackles...OLT is an early pick, and value at ORT is in the second and third.

OG
Round 1: 19%
Round 2: 16%
Round 3: 13%
Round 4: 16%
Round 5: 9%
Round 6: 5%
Round 7: 5%
Undrafted: 19%
Perennial All Pros like Faneca and Hutchinson come in Round 1, but you can find a quality starter in any round or as a Free Agent.

C
Round 1: 13%
Round 2: 19%
Round 3: 19%
Round 4: 3%
Round 5: 9%
Round 6: 9%
Round 7: 13%
Undrafted: 16%
Recent drafts have seen more first round picks...but Value is in every round
