Smile Who Is The Team To Beat In The AFC North?

Now, I am a true Black N Gold kind of guy and I Always Will Be. But here is my question for all my fellow pals here on the fever.....
Who is the Team to beat in the AFC North this year?
The most improved team this coming season could in my opinion be the Browns. They added Quinn and Thomas in this years draft and if .. IF... Winslow is healthy, then this offense should be pretty decent.
Cincinnati... well, their offense will only carry them so far. If their defense steps up and plays very well, then they have a chance as long as they get weekends out of ... well, you know where!
Baltimore... I really think that they will be very strong on defense as usuall, but their offense just hasnt got the passing game to get them over the top. Reed is the best FS in the game when he is healthy and playing at his best. But McNair and the offense has got to give that running game some help. I think that McGahee will help trememdously, and this could be the missing link that this team needed to get over the top... Overrated is my term of the Ravens.
Steelers....well, without all the turnovers last year, we were pretty competitive against the better teams, except the Ravens. Big Ben must get his head back right and lets see what Santonio Holmes can do. I think the Barlow could end up playing a bigger role than what I thought. Does anyone think that Willlie Parker CANT be our goalline runner? If you dont think that he can do the job, then I think that we all need to watch the game film on the Saints game this past season. Because, I think he runs as hard as anyone and with last year being really his first season as starting RB full time.. I look forward to seeing what he can accomplish with a passing game intact myself...Have fun and God Bless

The team to beat?

My money is on the Ravens - their D was flat out excellent all last season and in regular season games McNair to Heap, Mason and Clayton should generate enough offense for them to be competitive on offense.

McGahee has been highly rated as an RB, I think he can put up some yardage as long as the passing game provides a decent decoy so that he isn't seing 8/9 in the box.

The Steelers are solid across the board - its rare in football that guy deserves a 'pass' for a whole year but im going to give Ben one (no puns please) due to the upheaval caused by his various injuries.

I'm sure Tomlin will eradicate the foolish, undisciplined elements that were a trademark of last years team - it would be interesting to hear 'team leader' Faneca's thoughts on the dismal failing of his unit last year which let Ben get beaten up like a Pinata on too many occasions.

Willie put up some serious yardage with the same poor O-Line play - if they up their game we can expect the same production, if not better.

As a game time coach I have no idea what to expect from Tomlin - his D was caught totally unawares by the Patriots O last year - he made no attempt to change things up once Belichick sent his offense out with empty backfields on nearly every down.

The Bengals continue to be an enigma - they got totally outplayed by a New England team last year that wasn't in its best form - their look great on paper but they must get fundamentally better on D (particularly run D) if they want to come out on top in the AFCN.

The Browns may pull a few surprises by are still, at least, another year away from even being potential challengers for the AFCN.

They've been great for a while now, three Super Bowls' worth of great. But only this season have the New England Patriots become The Show, the must-see team of stars, pretty boys and reformed bad boys. Suddenly, the Patriots are not simply great; they're compelling, fascinating, appearing to be almighty and a touch lawless.
The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

I dont know LITP....on defense they have no idea who the RDE and ROLB are going to be and on offense Mason is only adequate...The O-line is weaker than its been in a long time...Ogden is on his last legs...and since you & I know that he can be beat by a speed rusher...I think most teams know that also...(although I dont recall the Steelers taking advantage of that fact like they should have)....Jason Brown will be taking Edwin Mulitalo left guard slot ...and Adam Terry is the potential starter at RT after the departure of Tony Pashos

Considering the way they handled us last year its got to be the Ravens. I believe Cincy is on the way back down. They'll be back in another 15 years or so. (Just like locust) The Browns are still a year or two away from challenging but can overtake Cincy this year to stay out of last place IMO.

It's the defending champs the Baltimore Ravens.

They threw us around like rag dolls.I was truly embarassed after our two outings against them.

I'm always looking for a conspiracy so take this with a grain of salt, but in those two games it looked like they knew what play we were calling before the snap. I know this sounds like I'm paranoid and a hater on the Ravens but I can't shake that feeling. I watched most every Ravens games last year and they just didn't look anywhere near that good against anyone else.

Ravens have to be the front runner. It's a "What have you done lately?" kind of league. A Super Bowl win 2 years ago isn't gonna put us on top now.

I say the Ravens too, but something just strikes me as odd about those two butt whippings they gave the Steelers though.

For the love of God, how did it happen? It's so puzzling. The Bengals and Colts handled them so easily, yet we couldn't even score a damn point against them until the second game? Don't get me wrong, they were a pretty good team, but the Steelers weren't that bad. Not THAT bad. Maybe because Cowher was so damn predictable, no wonder the Ravens knew what was coming. These two debacles are more at fault of the Steelers than the Ravens. Ravens/Steelers games are hard-hitting physcal contests and very competitive, but this....this was a joke(Unless you're a Ravens fan). God, what an embarrassment.

But what's done is done, the Steelers got their butts handed to them, and it's time to look forward to next year against the Rats.
