Default Re: Steelers' Reid to miss voluntary OTA practices

I'll wait until training camp. I don't know much about the injury but I remember watching him in the Fiesta Bowl against Penn State. Scared me every time he touched the ball.

He's got the skills, now I'll just wait to see if he's got the body strength to endure.

From orthoinfo.aaos.org
Lisfranc (Midfoot) Fracture;

Lisfranc fracture-dislocations are often mistaken for sprains. If the standard treatment for a sprain (rest, ice and elevation) doesn't reduce the pain and swelling within a day or two, ask your doctor for a referral to an orthopaedic specialist.
Unrecognized Lisfranc injuries can have serious complications such as joint degeneration and compartment syndrome, a build-up of pressure within muscles that can damage nerve cells and blood vessels.
Treatment for a Lisfranc injury depends on the severity of the injury. If the bones have not been forced out of position, you will probably have to wear a cast and refrain from putting weight on the foot for about six weeks. When the cast is removed, you may have to wear a rigid arch support. Your orthopaedist will also recommend foot exercises to build strength and help restore full range of motion.
Often, operative treatment is needed to stabilize the bones and hold them in place until healing is complete. Pins, wires or screws may be used. Afterwards, you will have to wear a cast and limit weightbearing on the foot for six to eight weeks. A walking brace may be prescribed when the fixation devices are removed. You may also have to wear an arch support and a rigid soled shoe until all symptoms have disappeared. In some cases, if arthritis develops in these joints, the bones may have to be fused together.
It is important to follow your doctor's orders and refrain from activities until you are given the go-ahead. If you return to activities too quickly, you may easily suffer another injury, resulting in damage to the blood vessels, the development of painful arthritis and an even longer healing time.

there was nothing official that it was a lisfranc injury. It was close to a lisfranc but never a true lisfranc injury. If it was a lisfranc they would of had a big article and post on it.

Like I said before, I'm hoping for the best also. After what Hester did for the Bears last year, every one of us wants to see this kid on the field.

I want to see willie returning kicks like he did in college, but if he's gonna be injured so much he's gonna be out of the team.

Hold on guys, I'm with you. I want to see Reid out there returning for us, I'm just saying that if he can't stay healthy he will be cut. Back when Reid saw the foot sprain turn into a season-ending injury, there was some speculation that the injury was more of a Lisfranc injury than just a sprain. If this is the case that is bad news.

I agree. Meanwhile they had Colcough back there, and guess what? He muffed a couple!
