Most kids(like me) should be able to tell what is appropriate for them to watch and what isn't. I feel that kids(starting at age 12 or 13) should be able to start figuring for ourselves what is/isn't appropriate to watch on TV. Just my 2 cents on this one.

Personally, from a parent's standpoint, I'm involved in both the tv and internet monitoring. While at times, I've been lax with my oldest daughter's online activity, I still make a point to interact with her while she's online, checking out websites (which is mostly myspace), and IMs.
As for the tv, I actively monitor what all my children watch.

I monitor what the kids watch and what they do online. They have to ask permission to do either.

If I were a parent I might monitor computer use, just because of the stuff they could possibly expose themselves to...at least until they're 14 or 15. But I don't really see much of a need to set limits on television...let the kids grow up.
My cousin is really strict with her children about any kind of technology use. I don't think they watch TV more than one hour per day and they only use the computer for homework and such. Anyway, the oldest boy turned out to be gay and the second child (a girl) basically turned into a complete hoe. Coincidence? I think not. |

Nope, and you can tell that your cousin is a strict parent.

The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed. |
