Ruth also didn't face Arican American ball players......He also used a 40oz bat which would be against the rules of MLB today.......Lets see during part of Ruth's career ground rule doubles counted as home runs....Now I'm not knocking Ruth or taking anything away what he did for baseball or sports in general...He is one of the greatest sports icons period in American history....Just pointing out how the game of baseball has changed since Ruth's era....

i hope he breaks the record i really do. steroids alone will not get you 700+ Home runs. steroids dont prevent you from getting injuried. doesnt help you hit the ball you still have to get the bat on the ball.

Hank Aaron holds the record, not Babe Ruth. I doubt he used any performance enhancing drugs. The thing that gets me is that some things can't be helped by exercising or wearing yellow contacts or seeing a sports psychologist or taking HGH. The greatest hitter ever? Ted Williams. He hit 500 and some-odd HR's, and he also hit for average. I think his lifetime was .350, and he was the last guy to hit over .400.
The bottom line is that Bonds record is tainted, and guys like Aaron and Williams records never will be. If you argue that BB's record isn't tainted, the fact that there even is an argument shows that many or most won't or can't acknowledge the record, so it's tainted by public perception if nothing else.
