I expect them to get whupped by both South Africa and England.
South Africa is (at least was) always a scary team. I remember when Apartheid finished and S.A. was allowed back into the world scene, there was talk that they would give the All blacks a very good game.

Unfortunetly, I have been out of the Rugby world for so long, I don't remember which one, union or the other, plays real rugby, and the other plays the sissy line em up rugby like thier all a bunch of pretty boy wanna be backs, instead of real Rugby players... (yep, I was a scrummy, can you tell?)!!

Ha. Neither are pretty boys - or at least thats what i'd tell 'em to their face!

Rugby Union is 15-a-side and its played across the world (I think this is the one you like....better) - Rugby League is 13-a-side and there are only 3 teams of note in world terms - Australia, NZ and Great Britain - as much as it pains me to say it Australia are leagues above the rest in this form of the game.

The current Rugby Union World Cup Holders are England - which we won when it was held in Australia...against Australia in the final - which made it about a million times sweeter!

Our chances of repeating this year? Low.

The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

Okay... If I remember right.. League was the one that actually doesn't do any rucking... rucking is World. Correct? And if I remember right, the Hong Kong sevens are actually world... or is HK sevens based on league?

Yeah, you are quite right - there is no real competition for the ball in the league format - turnovers are rare.

Each team is only allowed to be tackled to the ground 5 or 6 times (I can't remember which) and then possesion goes to the other team - a little like American football its customary to kick (or punt) the ball away before the last tackle to maintain field position.

Sevens rugby is based on the union format - with, obviously, 7 players-a-side instead of 15 - the games are alot shorter in length though.

That is common place in Union and there is alot of advantage to being strong and technically sound in this area - in League its basically a simple re-start and there is rarely a serious battle for possession of the ball.

Actually, no. Scrums are seen in both union and league... I am talking about rucking... Where, when the ball carrier is tackled, both teams ruck over his head, using thier feet to steal or keep the ball, which has been put between the tackled player's knees and head as he (usually) lies in a fetal position). For the un-gentlemanly rugby player, that is the time he usually rakes the player in the ribs with the metal cleats. Both teams push, and when one team has control, they can choose to take the ball or keep rucking. At that point, it starts to resemble an unorganized scrum. It gets real fun when the ruck starts to be spun, and you see players from both sides break off and run back to the back so that no one is called offsides.

but the scissoring of the backs and support is beautiful at times... mainly because it is more organized.

Big match in New Zealand tomorrow night. The All Blacks take on the Wallabies and the winner walks away with the two biggest trophies in southern hemisphere rugby, the Bledisloe cup (australia vs new zealand) and the tri-nations cup (australia, NZ and South Africa)

This will be the ultimate test of the All blacks ability to avoid wearing the CHOKERS tag into the world cup. If the Wallabies get a win I think it will really open the World cup up for sides like England and South Africa. If the All Blacks win I think they will take a lot of confidence with them and be strong favourites for the World cup.

GO THE WALLABIES!!!!!

It is also the Farewell Bledisloe cup test matches for two rugby legends in George Gregan and Stephen Larkham. End of a great era in world rugby. Should be a great game because everything is up for grabs.
