Steelers reach agreement with rookie William Gay
Saturday, July 21, 2007

The Steelers have reached a three-year contract agreement with another rookie, cornerback William Gay that will pay him a $106,000 signing bonus.

That leaves only top draft choice Lawrence Timmons, a linebacker from Florida State, unsigned. The Steelers hope to have Timmons signed by the time they open camp Monday afternoon.

Gay, who played at Louisville, was the team's second pick in the fifth round

After watching McFadden cruise over Colclough, I wouldn't doubt it and I hope so.

We left the 1st rounder for last,ok.Can't wait for Timmons to be signed. Yay for Gay!!

That leaves Timmons. If he is smart he will sign soon. After missing all of the mini-camps he is already in a hole. If he holds out he might as well kiss his rookie season goodbye.

William Gay will make the team......He will play on special teams on the kick coverage and down the road he could serve as the 3rd or 4th corner........If Ricardo shows nothing again then I would expect even Gay to move past Colclough late in the season....

i think timmons will be on board shortly. i'm sure rosenhaus would prefer for his client to sign last. makes him (timmons) look most important and gives the impression that rosenhaus got the best deal for his client. If TImmons signs before Gay, it doesn't look the same. My guess is he'll be signed by tomorrow.
