As if the Falcons didn't have enough to worry about already:
Falcons CB Williams Faces Marijuana Charge NFL.com wire reports RICHMOND, Va. (July 23, 2007) -- Atlanta Falcons cornerback Jimmy Williams is facing a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge. State police charged the Hampton native on June 2, according to Goochland County General District Court records. An initial court appearance scheduled for July 16 was postponed until Dec. 3. The incident was first reported by television stations WGCL in Atlanta and WTVR in Richmond. The station reported that Williams said he is innocent and that Falcons president Rich McKay and coach Bob Petrino had a copy of the police report and were discussing the matter today. Williams' Arizona-based agent, Ethan Lock, told The Associated Press tonight he had talked to his client about the matter. He declined further comment. The case is another distraction for the Falcons, who are dealing with star quarterback Michael Vick's federal indictment on dogfighting conspiracy charges. Vick and Williams, 23, are former Virginia Tech standouts. Williams, a second-round pick in the 2006 draft, played in 13 games and started five last season. Heh... Richmond is where the AAA Braves team plays, also. Atlanta will begin to hate that city before long.

The NFC, not wanting to be outdone, strikes back to the AFC with it's own answer to the jailcats...the Falcons?

The Bengals have a deeper bench of criminals, but in terms of repugnant animal cruelty crimes the Falcons are clearly the preseason team to beat:
In a similar story that has been overshadowed by the Vick dogfighting investigation, the attorney for Falcons defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux said Thursday there have been no new developments in his client's case on felony animal cruelty charges in Gwinnett County. Babineaux was charged in February after one of his two pit bulls died of blunt force trauma to the head. Babineaux was alleged to have killed the dog after an argument with his girlfriend. Babineaux is projected to open the season starting in place of Rod Coleman, who had offseason surgery to repair ruptured quadriceps muscles. http://www.ajc.com/search/content/sh..._0720_COX.html |
