They're not making late hits - they're making hard hits. Big difference. Do you think the FO should have listened to Hines when he publicly groused about Tomlin's hiring? I love Hines, but at this point, he needs to zip it.

I think our secondary isn't as bad as some think and I think they're a solid group....I love the fact they're hitting and laying the smack down.....Hey I don't fault Hines for looking for his fellow WRs but I'm glad Tomlin is not telling the DBs to lay off any.....You don't want to take that killer instinct away from players....As for the coverage issue....I think Smith showed enough in limited time that he is a ball hawk and solid in coverage...with a year under his belt I'm sure he is improving.....Smith will bring fear to WRs across the NFL when going over the middle...I love it thinking that WRs might have Smith in the back of their minds when catching a pass......

It is great seeing the vets taking the younger guys under their wings.

it seems that we now know why the Steelers always keeps that "way" about them. The last of the 70's SB generation taught the young ones... those young ones taught the 90's players when they were old vets. Seems that the tradition really does continue. |

Whats up guys. Due to the official steelers message board's excessive LACKING its looking like Steelers Fever is gonna be a new home!!
Anyways, its apparent that other than his INT in coverage we don't know a whole heck of a lot about his abilities on the field, as he can't seem to even keep himself on it. The question is, will he be seeing action in Sunday's HALL OF FAME GAME which I know we're all stoked to see!? My biggest excitements are how the rookies show up, who gets the nod at starter, and the battle at FS between Smith and Clark. To me, Smith is the way to go - his talent/potential/progression is just too extreme to keep him out of the starting position, but we shall see. Smith + Polamalu is without a doubt one of the most intimidating safety tandems in the league, and i'd love to see it week-in-week-out. What do you guys think?? |

It could just be a combination. Ben is having a good camp and that's great. Do I think the secondary has been a concern? When isn't the secondary a concern? Mind you, I might be slight more critical than others, but I feel that our secondary has been an area of concern for the past few seasons. Are they terrible? Not at all! But it is an area of concern for me. Now I know I might get in some hot water with that comment, but it's just the way I feel.

It is a question relating to training camp, so yes, this is the appropriate place. We are keeping all TC discussion limited to this subforum, as we do not want the main Steelers forum cluttered up with 10,000 threads about TC and thus making it easier for members to find TC-related info. Links to all subforums are listed underneath the main forums on the index page, so you're always one click away.
