Saints' Brown hurt in practice with apparent knee injury

JACKSON, Miss. -- New Orleans Saints starting left tackle Jammal Brown was injured in practice Tuesday and was carted off the field. Trainers appeared to be examining his right knee.

The injury occurred during a contact drill during practice. The Saints had originally been scheduled to do a walk-through Tuesday, but Saints coach Sean Payton was unhappy with their play on Sunday night.
Brown stayed down for about 20 minutes before being taken off the field in a cart.
No details on the injury were immediately available. Payton was expected to talk to reporters later Tuesday.
Brown was drafted in the first round out of Oklahoma, 13th overall, in 2005. He started at right tackle as a rookie and was moved to left tackle last season, when he was selected for the Pro Bowl.
Brown was part of an offensive line that allowed only 23 sacks in 2006, fourth lowest in the league. Coming into training camp, all five starters were expected to be back for the 2007 season.

If they loose him for the season.. that would be a big loss for them..

Well last year the Saints didn't give up too many sacks last year, but if he is gone watch out Bree's!

Is the saints o line any good, I know this guy is pretty good, but if they stay without him will it be really bad for them?

The line wasn't too shabby. With Brown gone, they may go down awhile.

Well Brees only being sacked 18 times last season speaks for the line itself. Change like this could up that sack count.

Saints | Payton encouraged by reports on J. Brown
Tue, 7 Aug 2007 14:38:17 -0700

Doug Miller, of NewOrleansSaints.com, reports New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said he was encouraged by the preliminary reports on the right knee injury of OT Jammal Brown (knee). "(Head athletic trainer) Scottie (Patton) felt pretty good about the stability of it. A lot of times you can tell right away if there is looseness in the joint. There appeared to be good stability," Payton said.
