Ya maybe. But their D is dominant.

Suddenly, the Patriots are not simply great; they're compelling, fascinating, appearing to be almighty and a touch lawless.
The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

I see the Ravens aregument, they have one of the best defenses in the NFL.

However, since the NFL went to four divisions, nobody has one the AFC North in consecutive years...and the Steelers and Ravens are the only teams to win the division more than once...and the Steelers have won the division msot of any with three AFC North titles.

However,I do not see the Bungholes argument at all.In 2005 they finished 11-5...so did we.In 2006 they finished 8-8,so did we.They have done nothing to improve thier horrid defense. They can win a shootout, but they can just as easily lose one too.

I think we're good enough to win the division and another Super Bowl this year.

That loss to them last year was a fluke! Freakin Coughligh!!!! We had that game but as soon as he makes a dumb*** move and the Bengals take over the momentum.

We are solid team and I like the underdog role. Makes the team a whole lot hungrier. We are going to cause big problems to the league this year.

Sadly, I must agree with you regarding the Rats. The Steelers are the only ones who can remove the shadow of doubt that has besieged them this season and the best way to do that is to win those very important games against their division rivals, or at the very least, go 4 out of 6.

Winning division games will be very tough all around this year. All 4 teams have shown significant signs of improvement. I think if any team takes a step back this year it will be the Ravens, but even then they would be a very good team.

I think you'll see a lot of split series in the AFCN. The steelers, bengals, and ravens could be splitting all around. And if the browns can win one or two division games, that just throws a monkey wrench into the whole picture.

A few points to consider:

1.) We DO have a rookie HC. I can't really disagree with our poor projections because the coaching staff was almost TOTALLY rebuilt. New coaches and a new playbook generally do not result in a Super Bowl that first year.

2.) The Ravens deserve the credit. They are the defensing champs. We've already discussed the Bengals in the media this offseason making outrageous claims, like they are the team to beat. Maybe people are starting to believe the hype.

3.) Why do all the analysts, etc. say we had a bad season last year (which wasn't even THAT terrible)? Ben. If you look at it from that perspective. That Roethlisberger, our francise QB, was probably a "flash in the pan," as I've heard him be called, then you can begin to see why people think we are finished.

4.) I call this one the Yankee disorder. People love to see storied franchises crash and burn. When consistencies in sports are no longer consistent THAT is headline news. It is not normal for a guy to hit 73 home runs in a season, it is not normal for the Yankees to be absolutely awful, it is not normal for a Wild Card team to win the Super Bowl. Do you remember how "done" all the talking heads said the Steelers were after they went into a skid toward the end of the '05 regular season? Now do you remember how "amazing" the Steelers were once they knocked off the Colts? People were giving them the Championship before the Bronco game because people love those rarities. Hell, if I remember correctly, we, A SIXTH seed, were favored over a ONE seed in XL.

The Patriots and the Steelers are resented by a lot of NFL fans because of how successful they have been over the last handful of seasons. People also hate Peyton Manning. Why? He's never been in trouble. He's always played really well. He's been a pretty classy guy (and one hell of a commercial actor), but A LOT of people hate him because, and most won't admit it, he is sick.

The Steelers fell of the horse on '06 and every sports columnist from Maine to Mexico City COULDN'T be happier. Now for the death blow in '07. New coach, struggling QB, E-T-C, E-T-C. "The Steelers are licked."

Forget those people. You saw how driven this team is in Canton. The Steelers don't have rebuilding years. A rebuilding year for the Steelers is like drafting Houshpotato in your fantasy league... "Chaaampionship." Some of you won't get that reference...

Just remember, it is very satisfying come February to say... "Told ya so."
