I know a couple people who are not going to be happy with your assessment...

Just my observations. Sometimes the truth hurts.

Since the Redsox won the World Series last year I think that probably cut deep into the Patriots fan base who like to chant "Yankees Suck" at New England Super Bowl Rally's.

I have said my piece regarding the quality of the Pats fan-base - we are all entitled to our opinions I suppose.

As far as the truth hurting - im not really seeing any on this thread - what I am seeing is individual assessments on what people 'believe' to be the truth.

The only fact I care for this weekend is the Patriots result.

Cheers

They've been great for a while now, three Super Bowls' worth of great. But only this season have the New England Patriots become The Show, the must-see team of stars, pretty boys and reformed bad boys. Suddenly, the Patriots are not simply great; they're compelling, fascinating, appearing to be almighty and a touch lawless.
The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

I just wanted to give the update on fan participation seeing how I work in one of the largest most diverse sports locale right now. Through two weeks, No one is representing better than the Eagles. They are early, loud and decorated in all kinds of green. Then come the Steelers, Jets, and GB respectively. If I don't see any NE fans this weekend then I'll know for sure that some just wait until playoff tickets get printed to finally show their backing. Again, not saying fans are not loyal and supportive, just that they are not as wide spread in the die hards categories as some other franchises.

This past Christmas I spent 10 days at a resort in Orlando, at Disney. We watched the Steelers destroy the Ravens Dec.26 at All Star Sports Cafe at Disney. Steelers fans were everywhere. It was like being at a bar around Pitt. We couldnt beleive it. Man did we feel at home.

I get a kick out of people who never lived in a particular city, but yet claim to be fans of that cities football, or hockey, or baseball, team.

Everywhere the Celtics used to play the place would be packed. Wherever it was there was always a large Celtic fan base. I never considered those people fans unless they had lived here.

You Steeler fans can fool yourselves if you want. But some jerkoff from New Mexico, who has never been east of the Rio Grand, but considers himself a Steeler fan, is as fraudulent as some squid wearing jumpwings, and a Ranger Tab.

No, I think it's the dumbest thing I ever heard of. Why the hell would you be a fan of the 49ers if you never lived in Calf.? Why would you be a Bruins fan if you never lived in Mass.? Or put another way. Why would I be a fan of any team that wasn't based here in Mass.? I wouldn't root for some New York team, or a Pitt. team, or a Detroit Team.
