Lamborghini registered to Briggs found abandoned

"(The) registration comes back to Lance Briggs, however we don't know who was driving the car at the time," Master Sgt. Kyron St. Clair said.

Briggs contacted the Illinois State Police on Monday, and officers planned to meet with him later in the day, Master Sgt. Luis Gutierrez said. He said he did not have details about when or where the meeting would take place.

"He contacted us to discuss the whereabouts of his car," Gutierrez said.

Bears spokesman Scott Hagel said Briggs was not injured, but declined to say if Briggs was in the vehicle when it crashed. He declined to say anything else about the incident.

Briggs was at Halas Hall, the Bears headquarters in Lake Forest, Ill., Monday morning, Hagel said.

Police said it doesn't appear that anyone was injured in the crash. Whoever was behind the wheel of the luxury Italian sports car could face misdemeanor charges for improper lane usage and leaving the scene of the accident, St. Clair said.

St. Clair said the vehicle, which has a Kelley Blue Book value of more than $350,000, had not been reported stolen.

hmmmmm....this is a no brainer ! briggs gets drunk,,,,briggs drives drunk....briggs wrecks car....briggs hauls ass to avoid DWI

Considering that the crash happened around 3am, someone at the nightclub/strip club where Briggs almost certainly was hanging out knows if and how much of whatever substance he ingested.

If he had nothing to hide -- if he maybe swerved to miss a deer and lost control or some such understandable thing -- then there was no reason whatsoever to leave the scene of an accident involving only himself and his car.

He's guilty of more than just leaving the scene (probably including a team curfew violation?); unless the Bears pay off the appropriate people to sweep it under the rug, we just have to sit back and wait for someone to crawl out of the woodwork. They always do.

Briggs might be a good linebacker, but he certainly knows nothing about taking care of his Lamborghini...that's ok though, he'll just go out and buy another one that will last him another week. *roll eyes*

people who run obviously have something to hide....shouldn't he get busted for making a false report? leaving the scene of an accident?
