Default Pass Catchers Available for Peanuts;

PASS-CATCHERS AVAILABLE FOR PEANUTS
Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that a trio of Florida receivers are available to any interested takers.
Specifically Reggie Williams of the Jaguars, Michael Clayton of the Bucs, and Chris Chambers of the Dolphins are on the block.
But Schefter says that no serious talks have occurred regarding any of the three, which means that all three of them are in danger of being released on or before Saturday. Chambers, a second-round pick in 2001, has been the best of the three. Clayton and Williams were first-round picks in 2004. Williams was the No. 9 overall pick; Clayton was No. 15.

From what I've heard the price tag for Chris Chambers would be very expensive (trade-wise)...I can't see the Dolphins just out-right releasing their best receiver. Apparently they have more faith in Ted Ginn as a receiver than originally thought.

Clayton is a good blocker and has a lot of talent. He's just stuck on a terrible team.

If we can grab him for the league minimum we should jump on it.

There is no way we'll go after any of these guys.

All that would do is convolute things even worse.

Who would we cut then?

Nate? Nate Washington?

...........

Sign Clayton Now!

I can't believe Miami would cut Chambers before even seeing a full season of Ginn... That just sounds like another bone headed decision in the making for Wayne and co.

Atlanta should go after him if they do drop him.

Do they still take a cap hit for Vick this year?

I could see Tomlin making an inquiry to Tampa for Clayton. Not that we'd follow through, but I could see him checking.

Nope, Atlanta has some money to throw around.

i already made this point in the dallas baker thread but it is much more relevant and likely to be seen here.

Nate Washington- 35 rec. 624 yds. 4 td (following the same career path as denvers rod smith)
Reggie Williams- 52 rec. 616 yds 4 td (all 3 years below nates 1st year production)
Michael Clayton- 33 rec. 356 yds. 1 td (2 of 3 years below nates 1st year #'s)
Chris Chambers- 59 rec. 677 yds. 4 td (solid #2 who thinks he deserves h. ward $. he'll probably get it. 5'11" tall. why pay more for less?)

people think nate is trash. some may think these guys need a change of scenery. all nate needs is more snaps and more than 35 balls. he's got the height and speed we need at the position. how the hell is dallas baker gonna replace him when even these 1st round picks couldnt replace him (maybe chambers was a 2nd. doesnt matter.)
it is clear we are getting the most bang for our buck with nates UDFA absolute minimum contract.

these #1's (or #2) should be ashamed that the #4 wr on the lowly steelers wr corps (with a qb who threw the most interceptions) is making them look like UDFA's while he looks like a developing 1st rounder.

steelerfans lack of faith in washington is amazing. "but he dropped that one ball!"

im even ashamed for hoping USC's dewayne jarrett would fall to us in the 2nd round.

Any of these guys suffer from the easily correctable problem of not being able to hang onto the ball?

Because if they can get that one little flaw ironed out they could be dominant!

The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

That easily correctable problem has plagued Eddie Kennison for 12 years.
