I keep listening to sports talk radio and a lot of them are picking the Jets. "A rookie quarterback can't handle the pressure." What could be more pressure than being taken off the bench in game 2 and having to take over a team and put the whole season on your shoulders? At that point Ben had been to one training camp, 4 preseason games, and 1 1/2 regular season games. The kid can handle the pressure. No the media in Pittsburgh is not the "bright lights, big city" of New York, but Steelers fans are rabid and demand wins. An entire season was placed in the hands of a rookie, and look how it turned out. 15-1. Can't wait for Saturday to shut up the New York clowns.

The media has been doubting us all year, waiting for us to collapse and fall on our faces. We've been defying the odds with Ben, and he's taken it in stride. just proves who's the best QB in the draft..and that we weren't so far away last year after all !!!

Let's face facts. Eventually Ben will lose a game. I just love watching experts struggle for attention. Its not newsworthy to predict a steelers win(or pats win during their streak) they want the press of hey did you hear they picked PIT to lose this week, blah blah blah. First it was Parcells, then Belichek, then mighty Philly, then Jacksonville would be too physical, Ravens too stingy, Buffalo too much offense. WHATEVER! Not that we proved them wrong, but we always turn the attention to us. Hey national press, we are committed to the run. Our defense is better. That rookie QB is pretty good. We took notes on our weaknesses in the offseason and addressed them and that made us boring. But if boring wins a superbowl then hand off 60 times a game.

Ben isnt playing like any rookie we've seen in quite some time. Granted he still makes some rookie mistakes, like taking a sack instead of throwing it away, or hanging onto the ball for just a split second too long. But largely, he's been AWESOME, and no complaints at all. When's the last time a rookie took the city and NFL by storm the way he has. And he still is grounded and gives credit to the FO and his team-mates and coaches.
He's just what the doctor ordered. No he wont go undefeated forever, but there's no reason to think he can't win 3 more games this season. Our supporting cast is second to none. |
