Default NFL in Mexico.

When the Cardinals and 49'rs play this Sunday-October 2 in Mexico City it will be the first International Regular Season Game ever played........and it probably wont be the last.

With the NFL trying to promote the game outside of the US borders this will more than likely bring about future games in other countries. The bottom line being that both the Cards and the 49'rs are sacrificing a home game for the sake of league promotion.

Where do you stand?
Would you be willing to see the Steelers give up a "Precious" home game for the sake of the league trying to drum up a bigger business in foreign countries.

Personally, I think the move is very "fan unfriendly" to the season ticket holders and to fans in general.

Thoughts??

I think the answer of every fan will be a resounding NO!

The only reason the NFL is willing to do this is to open up new sources of revenue for themselves, and to a lesser extent, team owners.

It is quite simply unfair to have to play one of your homes games at a neutral venue - almost as bad as the way New Orleans got shafted with their 'home' game - conveniently situated at Giants stadium - convenient for New York that is.

There is no way to make this a fair trade off - even if every team was to play one of their home games at a neutral venue it would still be a potential minefield.

Imagine the scenario where you had to play last weeks game in Mexico - and the Patriots neutral game was against the Cards or the Redskins - not exactly a great trade off for Pittsburgh is it?

NFL is enjoying great popularity at the moment - too much greed could ruin the whole thing and lead to a lot of disillusioned fans.

Cheers

The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

They can play preseason games in a corner parking lot for all I care, BUT regular season games need to stay here!

They can play the ALL the Cards/Niners games in Cuba for all I care...but don't touch teams that have real fans who sell-out stadiums every week.

I would be very against having the Steelers playing a regular season game anywhere else at the expense of a home game. Preseason I really don't care about, they can play those where ever.

Good point! However, in the NFL's defense, there are Steeler fans all over the World.

Steeler fans from England, Ireland, Iraq (US military and contractors), Mexico, Thialand, and a few more various countries belong to my Black 'N Gold Pride Club. And it is a very small club of 500+ so there Steeler fans in other countries.

Take away a home game in Pittsburgh? NO WAY!
