At this point in the season

I know it is early in the season and we have played two very below average teams..but we are leading thee league in point differential....having score 50 more points than our opponants..... I see two things that have me VERY optimistic.

1) In addition to our above average running game, Ben is starting to spread the ball around to a lot of different WR's and TE's, and we are #2 in the league for total time of possession. (total offensive rank #7)
2) Our defense is ranked #4 as of now, ahead of the (somewhat derservingly) media-hyped Bears and Ravens defense...and #3 in fewest yards allowed per play. (4.0)

Looking at the schedule I may have to rethink my pre-season prediction and say that there is a real possibility of winning 12+ games.

Again, at this point in the season. I think after 2 games our running game is doing very well. Again, not the two toughest team on the schedule but...
We are #2 in rushing YPG/ #1 in 3rdDM & 3rdD %/ we have only been penalized 8 time for 54 yards and we are #2 in TOP @ 35:51.
on the defensive side we are #1 in PPG/ #1 in sacks /#1 in FFum & #3 in passing defense. I am optimistic too. Lastly, we have as many wins this year after 2 games as we did last year after 8. And with all due respect to Noll, he went 1-13 his first year.

But don't forget what Noll had to work with in his first year. He had a team full of guys who didn't believe he could win. ALmost every single one of those guys were gone when the Steelers started winning Super Bowls. He had nothing to work with, noll had to build it all.

Tomlin is walking into, IMHO, the best situationa rookie HC could walk into.

I do agree but I was a tiny bit nervous that Tomlin's rookie season could wind up like Noll's. Even with the talent we have. I mean look at Norv in SD. Their season was over when they hired him. I have told people that he is going ot leave all that talent in the locker room. So congrats to Mike on 2 solid wins.

The opposition has been pretty sorry but credit to the Steelers for putting teams away by the 3rd quarter. So far so good

IMO the 49ers should be handled and the first real test of the season will be in Arizona in 2 weeks.

One: You can only play the teams on your schedule and a win is a win.

Two: Both games were played like a good team playing a bad team. If we were squeaking by bad teams, I'd be concerned.

I love it that Tomlin, thus far, is shutting the yaps of the naysayer sportswriters who felt that the Steelers weren't going to be successful with a rookie HC.

Norv Turner is an excellent OC, but imho, not HC'ing material in the NFL. That is a team with a plethora of talent all the way around, other than Rivers still showing some green. They're going to wish they had Marty back.

i am also optimistic about the start of the season. tomilin could not have scripted it any better. it feels so much better than last year. i was stoked about the upcoming season. In truth the season had/has to start hot because our schedule is brutal down the homestrech. I am thinking we really have an excellent chance to rattle alex smith. young qbs have a tough time agianst the our D. See you all in the brugh on 10/7 as we continue the win streak!

Yep, so far so good, but like I said in another thread, God help Tomlin when this team loses a game.

Couldn't agree more - if the Chargers don't pull it together and soon, I imagine this will be Turner's last go-round as a NFL HC. I could probably coach that team to an 11-5 record - their talent is sick.
