Unfortunately, Jim Tracy, horrible as he was, was the just the tip of the iceberg when it came to the problems with the Pirates. Until the Nuttings are unseated, or until they change their philosophy as owners, the Pirates will go nowhere.

5 managers in 11 years? Seriously now.

Exactly...and they've gone through a few general managers. Until Nutting gets fired, the Pirates will suck.

The new GM and manager won't make a difference. Developing talent in-house isn't going to happen--look at the record of the Pirates farm system. How many major league players of note came up through the Bucs organization? How many big time prospects fizzled?? Something's wrong with the organizaiton from top to bottom.

My point exactly. WTF happened to this storied franchise? I honestly think that a lot has to do with the fact that "big name" players simply would rather get paid more to live in a good weather city.

Look at all three sports teams... Do any of them attract "star" players? Nope. What was the last big free agent signing?

Duece?

Crosby was drafted. So was Ben.

I love the town, but those are the facts.

And what's even more aggravating is that we can't even keep the talent we develop. Over the last 15 years, if we would've kept 50% of the good players that we farmed out to other teams we would probably contended at some point. We have to find a way to keep some of the good players that we always have coming through our farm system.
