What's really interesting is how Tomlin knew within a few workouts that Mahan needed to be brought in to replace a no load Okobi. And I definately think Okobi was a pump and dump for Whiz, he needed to know the new plays.

Do all teams do this or is?was it just a AFC North/Central thing? Seems to me Jax used to pick up everyone we cut, for just a few games every year.
Agreed. Crazier things have been done in this league to give a team an edge. Video taping for example.

I think you answered your own question. Farrior flat out stated Cowher over ruled LeBeau last season and they butted heads on a few occasions. I'm not sure if it was Grimm and Whisenhunt pressuring Cowher into signing Okobi. Heck, I don't think Whisenhunt and Grimm pressured Cowher into doing anything when it came to this team.

After hearing how Farrior explained the situation between Cowher and LeBeau, I would be willing to bet Whisenhunt and Grimm had to ask Cowher politely before they broke wind.

Wow. What a roller coaster ride. Contending for the starting spot on aplayoff caliber team in August, to cut by a mid-tier NFC team in October. If he was shocked to be cut by the Steelers, imagine how he feels now.

Look for the Ravens or Bengals to pick the guy up next.

thats what i was thinking but anyone think he was on a short plane ride to denver as soon as he got cut? they just lost nalen for the year, he would have the bye week to get acclimated to their system and have almost 2 weeks to give them any info he remembers on their next opponent. (steelers)

the way the broncos are reeling, im sure shanahan would gladly spend the vet minimum on okolbi if he thought it would help deliver a win. at this point a single win has got to be worth a million bucks. (780K). im thinking they view this as a make or break game for their season.

That's a good observation. I noticed that Whiz wanted to keep the ratio of ex-Steelers just as high, though, by signing Keydrick Vincent yesterday.

I think Okobi is good enough to play in the NFL, he's just not good enough to dominate, and he's not good enough to plug the center hole for the Steelers. If we hadn't stupidly paid him starter money before he became a starter, he'd probably still be on the team.

Denver would be smart to pick him up. Nalen is a Steeler-type center, they are hurting bad without him. If Okobi has any chance to redeem himself, that would be the place to do it.
