Six sit out practice
Six Steelers sit out practice

The Steelers returned to practice Tuesday minus several players who missed the team's 21-0 win over Seattle at Heinz Field, along with another starter who missed a few plays of the game. Wide receivers Hines Ward (knee) and Santonio Holmes (hamstring), nose tackle Casey Hampton (hamstring), strong safety Troy Polamalu (ribs) and cornerback Bryant McFadden (ankle) did not practice. Left tackle Marvel Smith, who left Sunday's game with a knee injury but was able to return, also missed practice.
? The Steelers practice today and Thursday and will have Friday, Saturday and Sunday off for their bye week before beginning preparations Monday for the Denver Broncos.
? The Steelers lead the NFL in total defense, yielding 1,178 total yards, or 235.6 yards per game. They are second against the pass and fourth against the run. The Steelers are No. 7 in the NFL in total offense and rank No. 2 in rushing. Willie Parker leads the league with 507 rushing yards.
