Default SteelCityMan's Rant

Ok, as you know, recently Cleveland took on a school shooting that injured 4 people, fortunately, no one died.

Now, what I don't get is, why do people find it funny do something like this? Today my school(Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School) was under a bomb threat. We had metal detectors, bomb sniffing dogs, the works. It gets me jacked up on the inside that people do this stuff. Because of this, we had to start homeroom late and I was almost late to class. Even though this would be excused because it's an administrative reason, it still annoys me when stuff like this causes me to be late to any class period. No, actually for me to be late in General, I don't like school as much as the next kid, but I'd rather do the time now to have success later. It's really just bugs me.

Sorry guys, I just needed sometime to blow a fuse.

I hear ya SCM. It is rediculous, now schools have to take every situation serious. I would love to catch any kid doing this kinda stuff as a prank or joke.

I'd love to catch anyone who is serious.

From those who lack common sense. Those are the ones I expect it from.

I feel so bad for you kids today, Matt. We never had to worry about bomb threats or weapons being brought into school when I was in high school. The worst "weapon" we hid was the barrel of a pen to use as a spitball shooter! If we got caught with one, we'd get the paddle with the holes in it bent over the principal's desk - ouch!

Society has changed so much and it really is so sad. It sucks that you were late to class, Matt, but thank God nothing came of the threat and you and your classmates are safe. That is what is really important. Time can be made up but your life can't be

I hope the 5-0 catch whoever was responsible for this and nail 'em to the wall.

This was our 3rd in 2 years. Last year we had one that evacuated the building, 1 had over 1/2 the building out. BUT I don't get why they couldn't let us know about the threat of violence AHEAD OF TIME!

And State College cancelled classes recently at the high school because of a threat

State College just got threatened again. They canceled classes for the remainder of the day and are now going to increase police presence tomorrow.

If I would have called in a bomb threat, my dad would have found out and he would have beat my ass. But now? I just don't know. Kids all of a sudden have rights to privacy. And they are way more savvy then I was when I was kid. And lawsuits. If a kid calls a school with a bomb threat and the cops go to his house, his lazy parents who can't be bothered to be a real parent any other time would sue the school, the police department and the phone company for letting the kid call over their phone lines, and would probably win 2 of the 3 cases.

Penn Trafford high school (My old school) just had this last week... I wonder if it's the same person(s) or if the idea is just going around recently... Happened to WCCC as well a bit before that...

I am going to be 18 when our game vs. the Pats rolls around and just can't get some of the stuff my friends talk about... Violence, the internet and porn. The big three. They laugh at all of it like it's an everyday thing... Well, it is... I'm not someone to take extreme offense to stuff, in fact I am a pretty tolerable person (Just don’t insult the Steelers). But the more it goes on and on it’s just like come on… You’re almost out of school – grow up just a little bit…

The strain between me and my comrades grows day to day, bigger an bigger. While I am becoming enthralled with history, reading, sports, friendly debate, diverse music and of course, the Steelers – They are still stuck on video games and cartoons… While there isn’t necessarily anything wrong with those, they aren’t expanding at all…

I more than get what you’re talking about man and I don’t think it’s just the bombings and stuff… The general immaturity of our peers is ridiculous and sickens me. If people think our leadership and culture is bad now, wait about 10 – 15 years… I am fairly certain it is going to get worse before it gets better... I hope I am wrong, but I doubt it. Not with this group.
