Poor baby..."Terrell Owens (sniff) and Randy Moss can catch the ball when they are double teamed, why (sniff sniff) can't I"?
Chad frustrated after loss Jacksonville succeeds in shutting down wide receiver By Chick Ludwig Dayton Daily News CINCINNATI | Jacksonville accomplished something no other NFL team has been able to do in five seasons. The Jaguars reduced Chad Johnson to tears in their 23-20 victory over the Bengals on national TV Sunday night. They also made Cincinnati's wide receiver wish he was anybody but, well, Chad Johnson, for 3 hours and 13 minutes. Frustrated by the Jaguars' double coverage that limited him to five catches for a season-low 52 yards, Johnson's emotions ran amok afterward and kept flowing Monday. "They didn't get it to me, period," said Johnson, his voice cracking and tears trickling down his cheeks, in the Alltel Stadium visitors locker room. "They (the Jaguars) doubled me the whole game. That happens every week. Does that mean when a team doubles me that I'm through? It's not hard to get it to T.O. (the Eagles' Terrell Owens) or (the Raiders') Randy Moss." During the game, he made a spectacle of himself, performing CPR on the football during an end-zone celebration that followed his 14-yard TD catch, and attracting the cameras ? along with admonishment from ESPN analyst Joe Theismann ? for his animated sideline discussion with quarterback Carson Palmer. On Monday at Paul Brown Stadium, Johnson said the intense exchange ? in which Palmer was pointing and gesturing strongly to Johnson ? was blown out of proportion by the network announcers. "Since I'm not a bad guy, they want to find something to say bad about me," Johnson said. "I was telling (Palmer) what we could do on certain coverages because they weren't giving me crap. It was ridiculous the way they were playing me. We were trying to figure out what we could do because he told me before the game, 'If you see anything you like, just let me know.' " The result was frustration for Johnson ? with the Bengals suffering their first defeat of 2005 and with his inability to run routes freely in the face of the Jaguars' suffocating coverage. "I felt like I wish I wasn't Chad Johnson," he said. "I felt like I wish I wasn't good because then I wouldn't get the attention (double coverage) I'm getting. I just want to catch the ball. I had to do everything I could to keep my composure and keep from crying on the sideline. I did not want to be me at all. I was hurt bad. I wish I wasn't Chad. I should never, ever have that feeling." Yada yada yada. |

Chad Johnson is a pretty entertaining player, and I for one am glad that he is in the NFL - im also glad he isnt on my team.
Outside of being a talented receiver, all the other extraneous stuff he does brings nothing to the Bengals organisation - the smack talk which only serves to pump up future opponents etc etc He is a clown in the truest sense, an entertainer who puts the enjoyment of the spectator above his own teams needs. As a Bengals fan will tell you - Chad is Chad and there aint no changing that. Cheers NM

Well...at least Chad isn't T.O. or Moss. But, I would take Hines Ward over any of them simply because he is a team player and has a great personality.
