Heath Miller hasn't really been seen much in the passing game so far. In week one versus the Titans Heath had a 3 yard catch for a touchdown. In week two against the Texans we didn't see him in the passing game. In week three he had one catch for 13 yards against the Patriots. In week 5 we saw him quite a bit. He had four catches for 36 yards and a touchdown. Do you think Cowher will keep going to Heath like this? I am hoping so because I like what I am seeing from him.
Catches in week 5: B.Roethlisberger pass to H.Miller pushed ob at PIT 39 for 9 yards (T.Kiel) B.Roethlisberger pass to H.Miller to PIT 24 for 5 yards (T.Kiel, L.Castillo). B.Roethlisberger pass to H.Miller for 16 yards, TOUCHDOWN. B.Roethlisberger pass to H.Miller to PIT 47 for 6 yards (T.Kiel). |

I think since Heath missed some of training camp due to injury he was just catching on to the system. Waite until he knows the system. This guy is going to be good. I watched him in college a lot and liked what he was made of. This guy is going to be special in the NFL. Check out the sig (thanks again BB2W). I have been backing him from day one. Steelers needed another weapon over the middle and they got one. Cowher would NOT or WILL NOT waste a first round pick if he didnt see something out of him.

Yeah, I saw a lot of highlight videos of the guy. He had some pretty nice catches. He absolutely can be something special for this team. I just am curious if Cowher is finally going to start using the TE's some more.

Before the draft this year I was talking to a friend about the Steelers and I have always wanted a pass catching TE to play for the burgh. He told me that it would never happen because they have never used it before. I told him with the running game being the main focus with a simple play action a TE would be open almost 90% of the time. So we draft Heath I was loving life. Cowher would not have draft the best play making TE in the game and not use him.

heath is probably a checkdown in most pass plays. ben has been playing excellent and not having to go through all the reads in his progressions. it seems like he is throwing to and hitting the 1st or 2nd option. there are plays where heath is the 1st option and maybe they will start to use them more. remember all the plays they run now set up plays to be used in the future. the steelers will stick with what works. most people expected our passing game to stall w/o plex and thought the steelers would have to throw alot to the t.e. that just hasnt been the case. i cant imagine him not being more involved as the season progresses

It'd sure be nice to think we have that extra weapon in the arsenal AND are willing to use it.

I think eventually Miller will be a big part of our offense, but It may take a couple seasons. I think Cowher has been using him more than past TE's... especially a second string TE. I have seen him in the slot, wide-out, and backfield. Plus, he is often in motion which I think is a good sign.
I like what I see from Heath to Prosdo, and after all of Tuman's holds and missed blocks Monday night... I hope he starts this Sunday.
