Won't we have to "free up money" vs. cap to resign Ben. I say we sign Testaverde ("Green balls" en Francais.) Think of the money we'll save!!!!! (BTW JK)

There is plenty of juice sans SuzukiGate for the Rooneys to leverage.

One being the fact that we won the Super Bowl more inspite of Ben and less because of Ben. Two being the ridiculous interceptions that were key in pivotal games.

Leigh will counter with the fact that as Ben goes so go the Steelers. But then are there others that fit that mold?

The Rooneys stood by BR when the s**t hit the fan he should do the same and understand that he's not getting Dallas Cowboy Money.

But as I pointed out, $60 million over 6 years is JaMarcus Russell $$$. In addition, Romo basically got Bulger $$ - this was not Jones going nuts.

NFL contracts go no direction but up. $65-70 million/6 years is now the slot for second tier non-Brady/Manning (and Vick) contracts.

Ben will walk like Faneca if he is not paid market rate - it's a business - if the Steelers do not want to pay the going rate teams will be lined up, barring injury, to take Ben off their hands.

He is on pace to do that

Ben is clearly a top 5 qb in the nfl, hopefully he is reasonable and signs a fair deal

The Steelers will cough up the cash to keep Ben. They learned their lesson the hard way that bargain QB = No Super Bowl wins. The cap continues to rise due to lucrative TV deals and they'll be able to swing a deal to keep him.

Default Tony Homo, excuse me, Romo deal

He|| no he doesn't deserve $30 guaranteed, $11.5 signing bonus, plus an additional $11 mil/year for six years. Come one now. Also, I'm really sick of hearing the announcers say stuff like, "Brett Favre looks like Tony Romo out there". Are you kidding me?!?! I heard that 2 or 3 times, that's sickening. If the D-bags, I mean Cowboys want to throw away money to some poindexter that parties with Britney Spears, then go for it. I don't hate the Cowboys either; I think Marion Barbour is a beast, and T.O. is a hard-working receiver.
