Sorry man. I really figured because it was on aol that it was in all their stores. I do think that hd dvd players will continue to drop their prices to gain popularity through player sales because many feel blu ray has the edge right now. However, this format war could go on for years.

If they sold out, they pulled all the collateral fast. And there was no mistaking the look on the guys faces. They were genuinely perplexed. Maybe it was only for certain Wal-Marts?

Could be - I guess it is not bait & switch if you do not formally advertise (in which case you at least have to have a "limited quantity" of 1)

If I can get an HD DVD for less than $180 I'm there.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know anything about the upconvert DVD players? They were relatively cheap, and the claim is that they upconvert SD DVD to full 1080. I was skeptical and occupied hunting for the elusive 99 dollar HD DVD player.

Someone I just talked to on SF just got home with the $350 acer laptop. He said the local Walmart didn't have any but the second one did. He's now going back out to get a 2nd one. I remember going to the Walmart "Black Friday" sale a year or two ago. It started at 5 am. This Walmart is Huuuuggggeeee & yet it was so jam packed that I could only get around the store by leavinge my cart in one spot, finding things & then going back & putting them in my cart. Absolutely insane. But the point is, even getting there at 5 am, some stuff was sold out within 30 minutes. But it also sounds like some stores might not have participated. That surprises me.

It's all good. I've dropped so much cash on my whole setup in the last few weeks, not to mention all the stupid 360 games I've been buying, that a little austerity was in order.

I think all of the hi def dvd players may upconvert. That toshiba model does. that was the first thing i did when i got it was put some of our standard def dvd's in it. It looks a good bit better upconverted but still doesn't compare to what the hi def dvd's look like. Our screen is pretty big so standard def looks worse. If you had a 40" to -50" high def tv, I imagine the upconvert would look alot better than it does on ours, but again, it still looks alot better and is worth it IMO if you don't want to spring for hi - def player yet.

You go online into your netflix account and create a queue of movies that you want in order of importance. They auto ship the highest one in your queue that is in stock when they receive the one you mailed back. Also, you can see how other member have rated the movies & click to see a list of best movies like others you've watched and liked.
