Default Timmons and Harrison (Silverback)

was doing some thinking about the future of this football team.

James Harrison was viewed as someone to plug a hole at ROLB until Timmons was ready take that position over. However, Harrison is having a monster season and is a starter for the AFC in the Pro Bowl.

Eventually the Steelers will come to a fork in the road....Timmons vs. Harrison. Do we move one to ILB? Do we trade one? Do we keep both and have tremendous depth at OLB? Which one is better suited to play inside?

Okay, my rambling is over.

Absolutely... Move timmons to the inside... He has great pass coverage skills, so he can drop back in protection.

James is a Monster, I vote to see how well Timmons can adjust and if he cant then we think of something else from there.

Harrison on the inside doesn't sound bad at all. only thing that could damage him there is his size, but on the outside he's proved that's not a problem. right now seems like it depends where Timmons is better. but they gotta try him out soon, maybe in the ravens game with the division sealed up.......

Why would get rid of or trade either?

Harrison will be 30 next year. Timmons will only be 22. Timmons is more of a project. He has great ability, but is still very raw.

We desperately need a better interior pass rush. I think Timmons could provide that if he moved inside. Harrison wouldnt be a good fit inside, so scratch that idea.

I think I have to agree with this viewpoint.

While Harrison is having a great season, and the Steelers should most definitely keep him around - Timmons is future star and should be given a shot at inside before Harrison.....

just my tuppence.... :)

The way I see it Silverback is our ROLB but I could very well see Timmons starting LOLB next year if Haggans is leaving

Timmons could also play ILB if/when Farrior retires

and don't forget Woodley he can play OLB but also DE so I think we have good depth at LB's and it's good to see it.

But Im down with you guys that Id love to see Timmons seeing some action at ILB next year.

I think timmons would be a better fit at ilb also with his size and speed.
