Thursday, December 27, 2007
By Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Ben Roethlisberger, who threw three touchdowns and had a perfect passer rating in a 41-24 Steelers victory against the St. Louis Rams, was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week, the NFL has announced.

Roethlisberger, who is headed to the Pro Bowl, completed 16 of 20 passes for 261 yards and no interceptions against the Rams. He had a perfect rating of 158.3 for the second time this season and third in his career.

Yet, we hear how Romo is a top 4 qb with Manning, Favre, and Brady, and Ben is left out of the top 4 in all the talking head's "lists".

Seriously...No Respect for the Steelers.

after all he is just a game manager

Romo is good, and will get better, but until he wins at least one playoff game he is not a top 5 QB

I can't wait to see how "good" Romo is without TO...

i was reading no quarterback has ever had 2 perfect passer ratings in a single season. yet ben has.

then again, it seemed as a media afterthought that parker was leading the league in rushing before breaking his leg. it was a bigger story that fred taylor got to go to the probowl because of it.

and lost in all the hoopla of brady breaking mannings td record, and the 72 dolphins streak, was that last weekend tom broke BEN ROETHLISBERGER'S record of 14 consecutive wins in a single season. the media would never mention that though, after all nothing ben does could ever be significant.

doesnt it seem like ben is the one with an * next to all of his records and accomlishments?

strange

Forty "perfect games" have been thrown by thirty-four quarterbacks since the advent of passer ratings in 1973,[1] four of which have occurred in the post-season. Only four men have achieved the feat more than once: Peyton Manning has thrown four, Ben Roethlisberger has three, Dave Krieg and Kurt Warner have two. Chad Pennington is the only quarterback to achieve this feat in a loss. To qualify, a QB must attempt at least 10 passes. This is a list-in-progress of NFL perfect games:

I also seem to remember that no one outside of Pittsburgh mentioned that Ben broke Bradshaw's record.

Congrats to Ben

Default Stuffing the ballot box works!!

http://news.steelers.com/article/86554/

NFL.COM VOTERS SELECT
STEELERS QB BEN ROETHLISBERGER WEEK 16 FEDEX AIR NFL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Quarterback BEN ROETHLISBERGER of the Pittsburgh Steelers and running back BRANDON JACOBS of the New York Giants are the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week for games played on December 20 - 24, the NFL announced today.

Ben Roethlisberger completed 16 of 20 passes for 261 yards and three touchdowns earning a 158.3 passer rating in the Steelers? 41 ? 24 win over the St. Louis Rams.

Brandon Jacobs carried the ball 24 times for 145 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Giants? 38 ? 21 win over the Buffalo Bills.

Roethlisberger and Jacobs were selected from among finalists in air and ground categories. The other FedEx Express NFL Player of the Week finalists were quarterbacks PEYTON MANNING of the Indianapolis Colts and KURT WARNER of the Arizona Cardinals, while running backs LAURENCE MARONEY of the New England Patriots and KENNY WATSON of the Cincinnati Bengals were the other finalists for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week.

Fans voted for more than their favorite players. The weekly FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Awards are also a win for the local community. Along with the player awards, FedEx is awarding Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and Weill Cornell College of Cornell, Komansky Center for Children's Health, the children?s hospitals in the winning markets, two checks for $5,000.

The children?s hospitals in the two season-long winner?s markets, announced at Super Bowl XLII in Arizona, will be awarded $25,000 each. That means that FedEx will deliver nearly $250,000 to local children?s hospitals around the country in recognition of the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week Award winners.
