He's the o-line coach for the pats... I dont know when his contract runs out, but whenever it does we should make a move for him... the pats have a great line year in year out and a lot of it is because they are well-coached.

Between the pornographic Email he "erroneously" sent to the whole damn league and the awful play of the OL this year, Zierlein hasn't shown me much, that's for sure.

![]() I honestly don't think coaching has much to do with it, is more that the players are not that good. ok, maybe zierlein is no russ grimm, but with some better players he might make something good |

one of the big questions with the patriots this year was handling speed rushers off the edge... considering thats our problem as well i'd stay away... but a replacement for zierlein is definitely in order

i agree with duke, it isnt our personel, we should start plugging in young lineman during games to freshen up our starters and to get them some experience. who on our line hasnt been starting for most of their career or not at all...starks started for i think 2 yrs, faneca 10yrs, smith 7yrs?, colon played in 1-1/2 games last year do to injury but no serious time, kendall has been starting for most of his career, and mahan just sucks but has been starting at tampa for a while. after those guys people like stapleton, trai essex, and ........... sorry i ran out of names( im typing this at 4:30am cant sleep) we dont have any backups with experience, i love starks because he gives us some experience on our line but no other lineman.

I don't know if coaching will help the Steelers offensive line much. The Patriots have used higher draft choices to construct their O-Line. Their linemen are solidly built while the Steelers linemen look soft and sloppy. In my opinion the Steelers need to start from scratch and rebuild their O-Line. After many games this season, I've thought to myself, man, I'll bet there's better O-Linemen on the freaking streets.

agreed time for him to hit the road and get someone elese in here before the draft so they can build the offensive line the way it should be.

I was listening to Joe Bendel interview Trai Essex yesterday on the radio and he asked Trai the difference between being coached by Russ Grimm and Zierlein. Trai said that Grimm was the kind of coach who didn't care how you did something as long as you got it done, while Zierlein emphasizes technique. In my years of playing sports I had both of these kinds of coaches. I remember liking the Russ Grimm type and always finding the Zielein type a challenge because they type changed the way I did things. There was always a period of readjustment where I'd take a step backward in my progress, but my improvement in performance was much better long term with the Zierlein type. I think he deserves another year---give him a chance to improve technique with the younger guys. |

Yeah, I realize he didn't have a ton to work with, but he already had a strike against him for Email-gate before the season began (at least in my book), which brought a lot of embarrassment to Mr. Rooney. If most people would have forwarded such an Email to their entire company's address book, they'd probably have been shown the door. I think the Steelers and Tomlin could do better, that's all. Kinda funny he has people defending him here in light of the weekly crucifixions that Arians has been getting all season.
