Polamalu won't play in Pro Bowl
Friday, January 25, 2008 By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Safety Troy Polamalu has pulled out of the Pro Bowl, leaving the Steelers with three players for the Feb. 10 NFL all-star game in Honolulu. Polamalu, who finished the season with a sprained knee, is the second Steelers player to withdraw from the Pro Bowl. Willie Parker, whose leg was broken in the 15th game of the season, was replaced by Jacksonville's Fred Taylor. Safety Antoine Bethea of Indianapolis will replace Polamalu. The three remaining Steelers in the Pro Bowl are linebacker James Harrison and guard Alan Faneca, both starters, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08025/852197-66.stm

Good, rest up all you can Troy. We can NOT afford to have another year of injuries keeping you out of huge games or not being at 100% when we need you most.

I think that's a good call on Troy's part. We need him fully healthy, recovered and ready to go for next season. If they are still trying to determine whether his knee needs surgery or not, then it realty makes sense for him to sit out the Pro Bowl.

I also think that this is a good idea for Troy myelf. He really made the pro-bowl this year on his reputation anyway. But his future health is more important than a trip to Hawaii and the risk of more injuries anyway.

why would they all pull out?
Harrison had a great year and he is starting in his first pro bowl. Not that many people would have thought harrison would be in the pro bowl this year. He earned it and he should enjoy the free vaction to Hawaii. Faneca has no allegiance to the steelers any more at all. He know he will be somewhere different next year why should he dwell on the steelers loss

Faneca will still be playing in the B&G, getting the free trip to Hawaii and a nice little 5-figure check for a game that he didn't deserve to play in all the same. The only Steelers that truly deserved to go this year were Ben, Willie and Silverback. Period.
