Justin Smith & Muhsin Muhammad

Now that the Bungles have placed the franchise tag on a former Steeler in Stacey Andrews. Is Justin Smith a lock to be a Steeler?

Just saw on ESPN that Mushin Muhammed was released. Does anyone think he would be a great #3 WR for the Steelers?

I dont see it happening for Muhammed. Maybe Smith. but Muhammed just doesnt fit our system,imo. but who knows.

i dont see the steelers picking up a 30 somethin yr old reciever that never truly got his career goin. i can truly careless about smith anymore, i was high on him at first but i still believe keisel can get it done, plus smith is a pass rusher not a guy that likes to deal with guards all the time. who knows.

Justin Smith is definitely not a lock for the Steelers, he'll be a free agent sure, but I doubt he'll be a steeler. he will probably get a large contract that the steelers will never give him

Muhammad would be nice, at least for some training camp competition. this might push nate to do a better job knowing his position is in danger

I don't know about Smith either, but would a pass rusher be so bad? If he plays the run well enough to be an end in our 4-3, then we could surely use the pass rush. It would help our secondary A LOT and we wouldn't be dead meat when we send 3 against people like Brady.

Last season, we had a little over two sacks a game. I would love to improve that, so I'm not ruling out a pass rushing specialist.

watch woodley come in and knock QBs heads in 2008

I think he's actually gonna improve our pass rush a lot, with him in one side and Harrison in the other offenses just won't know where the pass rush is coming from

as long as we have those 2 producing I think we won't need to switch to 4-3

I, too, would rather not see the Steelers move to a 4-3, but I guess I've sort of accepted it as a forgone conclusion, for some reason, because I meant to say 3-4

I hope Woodley really blows up. It would be nice to have both of them blitzing effectively, but having a guy who could rush off the line would be a nice luxury.

Same here. Smith would be better in our 3-4, but will command too much $$$.

If you're looking for a 4-3 pass-rushing end then no. If you're looking for a 3-4 end, maybe, but probably not due to his price.

Justin Smith is a horrible pass rusher by the way, for those of you who want him for that reason.

The Steelers are not going to pay Justin Smith 8+ million per season - no way Jose. As for Muhammad, he will be 35 years old before the start of TC and really hasn't had a stellar season since leaving the Panthers. I say no to both.
