Default You're The HC #1

Your team has made it into the playoffs - with a record of 11-5 and game day is fast approaching.

Your star running back, who you signed in the previous off-season to help your flagging ground game, has made some critical comments about your ability as a HC and the performance of his team-mates in his absence in the week leading up to the big game - he has a previous reputation as a talented but big mouthed character.

Your star running back is having a pro-bowl year but suffered an injury half way through the season leading to him missing 5 games.

In games where your star RB has started you are 10-1, in games minus his services you are 1-4.

Your RB back ups have proven decidedly lightweight in his absense but have shown improved peformance in the last few weeks.

As HC...do you

A. Name the disgruntled RB as your starter for the big game, choosing to ignore his comments about your ability to coach and his disparaging comments about his team-mates.

B. Drop your star RB to the role of back-up and only bring him back into action if the situation is desperate

C. Confront your RB - then drop him totally for the game.

The choice is yours.........

Suddenly, the Patriots are not simply great; they're compelling, fascinating, appearing to be almighty and a touch lawless.
The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed.

A. Play the best talent. You may not want the attitude for another few years, but you can live with it for another game or so. Plus you can play it off to him being right. The team's record speaks for itself 1-4. Doesn't cut it. The Team's expectations are higher than that.

Until season end. I think you have the responsibilty to play the best players you have. Your own job may be on the line, and the fans suffer the most when they pay the big ticket price just to see back ups play. At season end, cut all ties. His disrepecting the HC, should not be tolerated.
The league may fine players for cursing to the media, for coaches or players complaining about the referees, or the league. And other things, but not if the constantly rip thier own HC. Maybe there shoukd be a rule about that. Then if a TO is a problem in SF, then a problem in Philly, he could be suspended. They need to add a little class to the league, they are always talking about setting an example for kids.

A.

You play him and ride him like a rented mule through the playoffs. If you lose, you blame his poor attitude and trade him to a losing non-conference team for draft picks. If you win, you reward his effort with a trade to a losing non-conference team for draft picks.

Play the best talent, and try to work it out.If whatever the problem is cannot be worked out, look for a way to trade him in the offseason (the Raiders or Ravens will take him).
