The Browns defense will improve dramatically because of their FA moves. They added quality DL who will occupy blockers and free up their LB's to make plays. They paid too much for them, but they almost had to...they have a ton of cap money and the 3-4 defense is predicated upon the front 3 occupying space. A full 50% of the people posting in this thread still haven't even wrapped their heads around THAT FACT yet, but they are still...

Eh, eff it...what's the point? This thread was stupid to begin with, and it ain't ending any better...

The Browns offense will probably suffer this year, which will effectively mitigate their defensive gains.

I think we are safe until Cleveland finally puts Quinn in, and we may be even safer when that happens than we are now. No, on paper this team looks great - but in the end they are always going to be the Browns... And, lol, you didn't hear that here first.
Don't be surprised if they use Anderson as trade bait to try to pick up a couple draft picks. That would be the smart thing to do. But I don't think the Clowns have a very smart FO so they will probably have a highly paid, so called franchise QB (I have serious doubts about that too) sitting on the bench.

"their defense will improve dramatically..."

i highly doubt this...they couldn't stop anyone last year and i see nothing that says that will get any better this season. the scoreboard looked like a pinball machine - they've done nothing to stop that. let's not go overboard in our praise of them or jump off the bridge just yet.

Colchough signed elsewhere today. Can't remember where but he is gone from the AFC North.

Ok I read further into the posts and saw it was Carolina.

Give the guy enough rope and he will hang himself. Sure he had some good games but very inconsistent. I am personally glad the Steelers don't fall for the free agency hype. Like I stated in earlier post, if T.O. or Moss or proven player then pay them. I just don't want to sign another Mahan. Maybe I will change my mind If he is moved to guard and we miraculously find a real center. Back to the Browns, this active offseason will just give their drunk and obnoxious fans some excitement and false hope.
I hope the Clowns FO doesn't get smart (like that could ever happen) and dangle Anderson out there for draft picks. They can do that now that he has been signed. The Clowns will have a really tough schedule this year unlike last year. I think they will fold like a cheap card table. I know we have the Pats and Chargers but they have to play the second place schedule. I don't see them breaking .500 with that defense of theirs. It is almost impossible to take the worst defense in the league and upgrade it to a serviceable one in just one offseason. I am not worried about them or Cincinnati much. The Ravens will be the worry again this year because they get the last place schedule which gives them a possible two game advantage over us if we split with them.

if they were going to use d.a as trade bait y re-sign him??? he was a rfa so they were going to get a 1st and a 3rd when another team signed him.. how is the off going to suffer next yr??? the off is the same except for the nice addition of stallworth

the browns basically played the same teams the steelers played last season. who knows how well anderson will play, but give the guy a little credit it's not like he was playing the dolphins every week.

The Clowns and the Bungles are entertaining and good for me fantasy team but there's no toughness or substance there. They are just flashy pretenders...

Agreed.

As for the Brown passing the Steelers? Huh, based on what? That shitty D of theirs?

It's going to take more than signing a bunch of fat guys to fix a Defense. Their secondary is garbage, and as we all know personally as Steeler fans, a bad secondary is a very nagging achillies heel.

I'm not worried. Until the end, the Steelers had the best D in football. If we can improve he pass rush, it'll be even better. We can shutdown Dante, Braylon, and Kellen, just like we have for the past four seasons. Our WR's can expose their terrible secondary, and as long as the OL improves, an AFC North repeat won't be trouble.
