Young wins Maxwell Award

Texas quarterback Vince Young won the Maxwell Award as the nation's top player, beating out fellow Heisman Trophy finalists Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart of Southern California.

Young leads the nation in passing efficiency. He has passed for more than 27-hundred yards and 26 touchdowns. He leads the Longhorns in rushing with 850 yards.

Young was the third Texas player to win the Maxwell Award.

well **** this award he deserved the heisman oh well, i guess bush can deal with the heisman jinx on january 4th and get to see vince hold a better trophy on that day and that's the rose bowl mvp

I know it's not the Heismen Koop, but the Maxwell Award is a very prestigious award. It goes all the way back to 1937... it is one of the oldest awards in college sports. Although history says it is a good indicator of who will win the Heismen... the last five Maxwell Award winners did not go on to win the Heismen.

That vince young looks like Heisman is going else where if he gets Maxwell. Happend when LJ won it.

it's happened the past 5 years, but it don't matter let them cheating stat padders win it, vince will have a better trophy next month (rose bowl mvp)

the only way they get to it first is if they run to it while the longhorns are celebrating their national championship victory

our d is way better then theirs, our special teams overall is better, and we got just as much weapons on offense, jamal charles, selvin young, limas sweed, ramonce taylor.... they are very underrated players because vince takes all the spot light. it's gonna be one hell of a game but longhorns will be the winners
