Default why didnt we sign this guy for ST?

Ravens agree to terms with free agent Ayanbadejo
Associated Press

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens agreed to terms Thursday with Brendon Ayanbadejo, a special teams star who played for the Chicago Bears.

Ayanbadejo agreed to a four-year contract worth $4.9 million, including a $1.9 million signing bonus, and will sign the deal next week, Ravens officials said.

Ayanbadejo, 31, chose the Ravens over the New York Jets in part because of the opportunity to be a backup inside linebacker in addition to his duties in kick coverage.

Named the Bears' special-teams captain last year, the 6-foot-1, 228-pound former UCLA standout ranked second in the NFL in special-teams tackles over the past two seasons and was named to the Pro Bowl twice.

Brendon Ayanbadejo is the younger brother of former Ravens fullback Obafemi Ayanbadejo, who played for Baltimore's Super Bowl championship team.
i guess the youth movement is true, and if you cant prove youre worthy of cracking the starting lineup by age 30 (harrison, keisel) you will not be making a paltry million dollars a year with the steelers as a specialty player.

at this point i'd say kreider is a specialty player and probably gone.

but man, the bears ST is good. this guy woulda helped.

I think it goes along more with the youth movement you mentioned more than anything. Tomlin stated after the season that we needed to get younger. The guy who visited from Green Bay was a ST specialist and was only 26, Hadnot is 26, Mewelde Moore is 26.

youth, fresh faces, easier to teach, not set in their ways, very good for the long term changes being installed by the new Head Coach...the Head Coach who will be here at least 10 years...

Oh, by the way, Tomlin...you owe me FOUR Rings...Ben only owes me 3, but you owe me FOUR like Noll....Cower still owes me THREE and I hope to collect on him one day. He was supposed to get me four, not a loss and one. Four dang it! Cower owes me...owes me big time.

not sure our back up linebackers did well enough last season. Of course we need our kicker to just start booting them out of the endzone. That would be sweet, no returns would be great, take away the entire element.

I kind of agree with ya RheeRhee
I just dont see how the signing of Frazier would have been any different other than Ayan was an all-star Special Teamer and Frazier Isnt!!

i think anyone can be a "all-star" special teamer as long as they just run down the field the quickest and tackle the guy... Frazier cam a lot cheaper, he knows the def in case he needs to come in. so i think that it was a good re-sign
