Nope. Not a pro-boler.
However, the guy IS a SOLID center. A GREAT upgrade over last year. That gives us flexibility in Mahan moving to his original position, or being a backup. That means we draft two OL this year in the first day, and we will be SOLID at the line, with depth. I would be happy with that. |

I think that some people may have thought hardwig was nick hardwick from SD when they had the pro bowl comment.
As far as Nickey goes... I don't understand how people don't see it as a problem that he started a fight with the francise QB. It worse than Anthony Smith. Some people liked Anthony Smith's aggressiveness in practice... really? Instead of just letting that aggressiveness consume his game maybe he should have learned a little discipline. You know, start with not getting into extra curricular B.S. after the play and end at not getting cooked deep. So maybe being willing to mix it up with their teammates in training camp is a quality some people look for in the position, but I'd rather (and I've said it before) not have a bull in a china shop at FS. We should be passing on Nickey, as well. Quote:

I agree, and I chalk it up to the same mentality that has some folks convinced that the Raiders would be getting off "cheap" by surrendering a 2nd round pick and a top 3 CB salary for an overrated headcase like DeAngelo Hall.

IMO, if the steelers sign hartwig they will probably go BPA the CB or DL position in the 1st round. hopefully if the go CB they don't pick talib.
the 2nd round they could grab pollak C/G. |

Donnie Nickey actually grew up 12 miles down the road from me in Plain City, Ohio not Akron, Ohio as the article indicates. He attended Jonathon Alder High School and I've seen many of his high school games. He was a great high school athlete.
He's very fast for a white boy but fast is about all that you get out of him. His high school was division 5 when he attended which equates to a small school in Ohio. Nickey has shied away from contact ever since he attended the Big 10 Division 1 school of Ohio State and has continued to shy away in the NFL. Signing Nickey would be a waste if you ask me. The Steelers will get nothing, performance wise, out of him. |

So this guy is a malcontent who runs away from the ball carrier... Unless we plan on filming a recreation of Little Giants, I'd say that's a big no thank you to Nickey.
